A Snapshot of Your Day

This role is critical to ensuring business continuity and the successful operational delivery of service projects across the Beatrice and Hywind offshore wind farms. As a Senior Offshore Wind Turbine Service Technician, you will combine hands-on technical expertise with operational leadership, supporting three key areas of responsibility: the maintenance and troubleshooting of wind turbines, the planning and coordination of site activities, and the consistent application of safety, quality, and reporting standards.

Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will diagnose and resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues, support the execution of planned and reactive maintenance activities, and help coordinate resources to ensure operational readiness. You will also act as a senior technical presence on site, providing guidance to colleagues, supporting safe working practices, and ensuring all activities are completed in line with company procedures, customer expectations, and industry regulations. The role requires a proactive, safety-focused individual who can work independently, make sound technical decisions, and contribute to the ongoing performance and reliability of offshore wind assets.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical and mechanical faults on offshore wind turbines.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities in accordance with technical documentation, work instructions, and company standards.
  • Conduct testing, commissioning, and verification of turbine systems and components following repairs or upgrades.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other technicians to resolve challenging technical issues.
  • Deliver work packages safely, efficiently, and within agreed timescales to maximise turbine availability.
  • Demonstrate active safety leadership by ensuring compliance with EHS, Quality, and legislative requirements, while promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Lead incident, near-miss, and safety observation reporting and support emergency response activities when required.
  • Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, toolbox talks, and safety briefings prior to work activities.
  • Plan and coordinate daily and weekly maintenance activities in collaboration with site management and service planning teams.
  • Ensure availability of spare parts, tools, equipment, and documentation required to deliver maintenance activities effectively.
  • Support technician welfare on site and escalate issues relating to PPE, transportation, accommodation, or equipment.
  • Coordinate activities involving third-party contractors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with site and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate service reports, maintenance logs, quality documentation, and technical records.
  • Support customer requirements, operational reviews, contract deliverables, and site visits

What You Bring

  • Level 3 qualification or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC, HND, completed apprenticeship, or equivalent).
  • GWO Basic Safety Training certification, including Sea Survival, Working at Height, First Aid, Fire Awareness, and Manual Handling.
  • Full valid driving licence.
  • Significant experience as a Wind Turbine Technician, preferably within an offshore service environment.
  • Proven experience diagnosing and resolving complex electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Strong background in service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of wind turbine generators.
  • Experience working independently and making technical decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely lead, mentor, and motivate small teams.
  • Strong understanding of offshore safety standards, risk assessment processes, and quality requirements.
  • Experience working with contractors, subcontractors, and third-party service providers.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • High levels of accountability, critical thinking, adaptability, and customer focus.
  • A proactive approach to Health & Safety and a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
