Position Title: Quality Inspector

Quality Inspector at Siemens Energy
Performs Quality Control and Inspections and oversee Non-Destructive Testing in the manufacturing and repair of steam turbines, high speed compressors, gear assemblies, and related equipment for the power, gas, and oil industries. Including metrology and calibration of measuring equipment.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Monitor quality implementation and effectiveness and ensure that quality processes are followed
- Monitor in process compliance to ensure product quality and safety.
- Verify quality documentation for completeness and correctness.
- Review drawings and specifications to compare technical compliance of manufactured components
- Monitor execution progress and attend to quality intervention points.
- Inspect and measuring products and assemblies against prescribed standards and specifications.
- Record inspection results and inputting into quality database.
- Perform in process inspections as required to ensure the process is performing to specification.
- Perform inspections on products at suppliers and confirm compliance to specifications
- Final inspection and release of products for delivery meeting relevant specifications and standards, capture all data and pictures for traceability.
- Coordinate NDT activities, receive and upload reports to DIJ Inspection Jacket
- Calibrate measuring instruments and equipment and do basic repairs to confirm functionally.
- Keep record of all measurement equipment calibration status.
- Raise non-conformances and follow up on the corrective actions.
- Perform and participate in non-conformance root cause investigations.
- Keep records of all inspections and maintain inspection database.
- Create reports to highlight issues, non-conformances, and continuous improvement
- Training the production team on quality control measures to improve product excellence.
- Participate in the improvement programs proposing improvements to the production process.
- Comply with health and safety in accordance with the health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Maintain and continuously improve on housekeeping and workplace organization
- Comply with all Siemens Energy policies and procedures in all activities.
What You Bring
- Must have a valid Trade test as a Mechanical Fitter and Turner
- Must have Grade 12 or relevant equivalent tertiary qualification
- National diploma (N6) Mechanical Engineering is an advantage
- Certificate in calibration and physical testing of measuring instruments.
- 5-10 years relevant work experience within high precision heavy mechanical engineering Service shop
- Experience on repairs of Steam Turbines, turbo compressors, and parts manufacturing.
- Able to use various measuring instruments with 100% accuracy, measuring to 0,001mm.
- Experience in reading and interpretation of mechanical parts manufacturing and assembly drawings
- Must have knowledge and experience of principles, procedures, work routines and skills in mechanical fitting and machining of products.
- Computer skills required; MSWord, MS Excell and MS Outlook
- Must have a driver’s license and own transportation
- Be available after hours to perform standby duties as and when required
