A Snapshot of Your Day

This role is part of the Grid Technologies Sales team in Australia focused on bid and tendering activities for our Power Transformers business. It is structured around three core areas: leading the technical tendering and bid management process, managing key customer and internal stakeholder relationships, and contributing to broader sales operations and strategy.

This focus ensures comprehensive coverage from initial customer inquiry through to final proposal submission for complex, high-value projects. Given the focus on Power Transformer solutions, the ideal candidate will possess advanced technical knowledge in this domain, combined with proven experience in preparing complex commercial bids.

A background in electrical engineering and a demonstrated ability to work independently on difficult projects are essential for success in this senior professional position.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • 50% Technical Tendering & Bid Management
    • Analyze customer technical specifications and requirements for Power Transformer projects to develop compliant solutions.
    • Prepare and manage the creation of detailed technical and commercial tenders, bids, and proposals.
    • Collaborate with internal engineering, manufacturing, and program management teams to confirm technical feasibility and pricing.
    • Define and document technical specifications, pricing considerations, and contract requirements for customer proposals.
  • 30% Stakeholder Engagement
    • Prepare and conduct technical sales briefings and product demonstrations for customer representatives.
    • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customer stakeholders to understand their evolving needs.
    • Investigate and propose new applications or improvements to products based on customer feedback and industry trends.
    • Serve as the primary interface between stakeholders to enable the bid process.
    • Prepare detailed cost calculations, including; commercial risk assessments & quantification; coordination with commercial partners
    • Management of inbound customer enquiries, especially technical Q&A’s, RFI’s and related clarifications relating to the enquiries
    • Support the sales team with customer care initiatives, presentations and events as required
    • Collaborate with business promoters, order execution team, factory engineering and sales to optimise Siemens technical and commercial offer to provide winning value aligned to the customer requirements
  • 20% Sales Operations & Strategy
    • Manage tendering projects and processes independently, navigating complex and challenging requirements with limited supervision.
    • Provide guidance and review the work of junior professionals within the technical sales team.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven experience (typically 5-8 years) in a technical sales, tendering, or application engineering role within the energy or heavy electrical equipment industry.
  • Demonstrated experience and in-depth knowledge of Power Transformers or similar high-voltage apparatus.
