A Snapshot of Your Day

As an EHS Specialist – Environmental Focus with Siemens Energy, you will serve as a key environmental partner to manufacturing and service operations. You’ll have daily interaction with manufacturing teams, contractors, and site leadership, providing guidance and oversight related to environmental regulatory compliance, permitting, sustainability initiatives, and environmental risk reduction.

This position reports directly to the site QEHS Manager at the Winston Service Center and collaborates closely to develop and implement initiatives that reduce environmental impact, strengthen environmental culture, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations while supporting safe, efficient campus operations and the organization’s long‑term goals.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Lead environmental compliance and stewardship efforts as a cornerstone of campus operations driving improved environmental performance and risk reduction.
  • Lead and assist in the review, development, and implementation of environmental and EHS programs as regulatory requirements or site processes change, ensuring no negative impact to campus operations, compliance, or environmental risk.
  • Facilitate and conduct environmental investigations, audits, inspections, monitoring, reporting, and training to support the campus EHS program and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate and partner with cross‑functional teams—including operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractors—to reduce environmental risk, improve environmental performance, and strengthen a culture of environmental responsibility.
  • Complete, as assigned, waste management activities, pollution prevention and waste minimization initiatives, environmental reporting, permitting documentation, and recordkeeping required for regulatory compliance and Siemens Energy business requirements.

What You Bring

  • A BS degree or similar experience in a technical field is required; a master’s degree or equivalent experience in an Environmental or Engineering field is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable. Certifications will be required to be acquired in specific areas as they relate to auditing, waste management and OSHA programs.
  • Five or more years of experience in a direct Environmental Health and Safety role, with a strong emphasis on environmental compliance, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Demonstrated experience with environmental regulatory compliance, including EPA requirements, permitting, inspections, reporting, auditing, and environmental recordkeeping.
  • Three plus years of experience related to ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001. Proven track record to collaboratively develop and drive the daily activities and strategic EHS direction for the organization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across operations, maintenance, engineering, human resources, and contracted services to influence environmental performance and foster a culture of environmental responsibility.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, FM Global, and an understanding of how environmental and EHS regulations impact our business.
  • Experience in root cause assessments, hazardous waste management, training, quality, and customer interfaces highly desired. Experience in large rotating equipment, welding and lasers, cranes, radiation safety and heavy machining manufacturing environment required. Experience and in-depth knowledge of power generation equipment is a significant asset.
  • Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level.

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators.
