A Snapshot of Your Day
The purpose of our Head of Operational Planning position is to provide the Aeroderivative Gas Turbines (AGT) team with strategic leadership and support for our execution business. The candidate will report directly to the head of Aeroderivative Gas Turbines (SE GS D AGT).
The Head of Operational Planning leads the integrated Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process and ensures operational alignment across demand, supply, inventory, and resource planning. This senior role is crucial for translating business strategy into executable operational plans, optimizing supply chain performance, and supporting Siemens Energy’s commitment to reliability, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
As a key contributor within the executive team, you help us to identify and drive key business objectives and long-term business needs for the AGT business. These activities guide the business for future success.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Leadership & Governance – Own and govern the end-to-end S&OP process across all AGT business units, ensuring adherence to best practices and corporate standards
- Strategic Planning – Develop, implement, and continuously improve long-term operational planning strategies to optimize production resources and inventory levels
- Cross-Functional Alignment – Facilitate alignment between Sales, Operations, Finance, Procurement, and Project Management to ensure unified business planning
- Capacity & Resource Management – Oversee capacity planning to meet business demand while balancing cost, efficiency, and service levels
- Data-Driven Decision-Making – Use advanced analytics, scenario modeling, and KPIs to inform strategic decisions and enhance forecast accuracy
- Process Optimization – Lead initiatives to digitalize and streamline planning activities, leveraging tools like SAP IBP and AI-supported forecasting
- Risk Management – Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies, including contingency plans for demand shifts, disruptions, or material shortages
- Performance Management – Establish KPIs and reporting dashboards to monitor planning performance, forecast accuracy, delivery reliability, and inventory optimization
- People Management – Build and lead a high-performing Operational Planning team, providing mentorship and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field; master’s degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience in supply chain or operational planning, including at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Proven track record of implementing successful S&OP processes in a complex, global environment
- Strong knowledge of ERP and planning tools (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel/analytics skills
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and change management capabilities
- Experience in the energy, power generation, or manufacturing sector strongly preferred
- Significant experience in developing and implementing strategic plans
- Background and experience in a service business area, e.g. in energy, infrastructure or industries
- Intimate knowledge of the AGT business is preferred
- Technical understanding of the related portfolio of Siemens Gas Services
- Must be prepared to travel occasionally both nationally and internationally
- Strong management and leadership skills
- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation and problem-solving skills. Hands-on approach, with a ‘can-do’ attitude
