Embark on an exciting journey with Siemens Energy’s Gas Services team through our two year Commissioning Engineer Graduate Programme, based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Our team provides essential technical support and commissioning services in our Operations facility where we manufacture and service a range of leading energy technology products.

    Your Role

    As a Graduate Commissioning Engineer, you will be fully immersed within our Operations function from day one. Based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, you will be part of a hands-on operational team work alongside experienced engineers and technicians to commission and test complex electrical systems that contribute directly to the development of hydrogen based clean energy solutions.

    This focused, hands-on approach is designed to broaden your knowledge, enhance your capabilities, and build a strong foundation for your future career within our organisation.

    How You’ll Make An Impact

    • Commission and test hydrogen power units following manufacture or service to the required technical specifications and safety standards to verify the products for operation.
    • Commission and test the systems’ functionally and carry out fault finding and diagnostics on complex electrical and mechanical systems.
    • Provide technical support to the facility on a wide range of Electrical systems including Instrumentation & Control systems.
    • Achieve the highest levels safety by understanding, complying and developing safe systems of work.
    • Learn valuable practical skills such as electrical and mechanical installations to technical drawings and specifications.

    What You Bring

    • Educational Background: You must have graduated or be studying towards a degree (Graded 2:1 minimum) in Electrical, Energy Systems, Industrial or General Engineering.
    • A practical hands-on approach with strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals.
    • Interpersonal Skills: Flexible, with the ability to connect with others and bring positive, forward-thinking ideas to the team.
    • Curiosity and Learning: A curious nature, willing to ask questions and learn from our highly experienced team.

    Our Gas Services Engineering team in the UK & Ireland is a diverse and highly experienced community of more than 50 professionals, collectively offering over 1,000 years of engineering expertise. As a team, we support over half of the UK’s rotating power infrastructure and play a critical role in helping our customers transition toward a net-zero future.

    Our Newcastle Upon Tyne site, established in 1889, is the historic home of the Parsons steam turbine. This legacy continues to influence our work today as we support not only steam turbines but also gas turbines, compressors, generators, and a range of exciting new technologies such as hydrogen power units.
