Join our dynamic UK&I Wind Legal team as a Legal Counsel and play a pivotal role in driving legal excellence across our diverse and global business units. We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join our United Kingdom & Ireland Legal (UK&I) team. This role will be based in the United Kingdom and will report into the Head of Legal UK & Ireland.

The UK&I Wind Legal team consists of 12 people with some members of the team based in Camberley and other members of the team who are home based across the UK.

This role will provide legal advice and support to all the three current business units (Onshore, Offshore and Service) on a wide range of legal topics predominantly in the UK&I but with the opportunity to support globally. With effect from 1st October 2024, the Service business unit will merge into the Onshore and Offshore business units.

You will ensure effective legal risk management when reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts, such as turbine supply and service & maintenance agreements as well as other legal documents while applying a legal, commercial and pragmatic perspective.

Some of your key tasks will include but not be limited to:

  • Support as a business partner and trusted advisor to the business, the sales and service teams

  • Ensuring effective legal control through drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements, including complex turbine supply and service & maintenance agreements

  • Advising on contract interpretation and developing strategies for and resolving major claims and disputes

  • Identify and analyze the legal risks and opportunities to drive solutions within the sales and execution phases of various projects

  • Sharing knowledge by providing in-depth legal knowledge training to business and legal colleagues

  • Participating in legal team projects and initiatives to improve efficiency, drive excellence and engagement

  • Ensuring adherence to legal policies and approval processes

  • Managing any outside counsel brought in for reason of specialism or capacity

What You Need To Make a Difference

A passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change. We are also looking for…

  • You to be a qualified lawyer in one of the jurisdictions that the UK&I Legal team operates, with a minimum of 2 years’ post qualification experience

  • You will have legal experience in an international law firm or legal department of a multinational corporation, with a focus on complex transactional international project business, energy, construction, engineering or other infrastructure projects

  • You will preferably have experience with renewables (wind power ideally) and expertise with FIDIC contracts

  • The ideal candidate for this role will have the ability to deal confidently and build strong relationships with senior business and legal colleagues

  • You will have a flexible attitude, the ability to multi-task and possess strong written and oral communication skills

  • You will be fluent in English, both written and spoken, and be able to work professionally as a Legal Counsel in English
