YOU’LL WORK ON:
You will join Shift EV’s Manufacturing technology team. As a Lead DFM & tooling engineer, you will play a pivotal role in bridging design and manufacturing by optimizing product designs for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA) while driving the adoption of new manufacturing technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product releases.
YOU WILL:

Conduct detailed DFM / DFA analyses tailored to mechanical systems in automotive and EV applications.
Mechanical: Optimize designs for sheet metal works, machining, welding, and assembly processes.
Collaborate with design engineers to recommend design changes that enhance manufacturability and assembly efficiency.
Develop and validate tooling and fixture designs for efficient production processes.
Evaluate and recommend advanced manufacturing technologies for incorporation into production processes.
Participate in DFMEA sessions to derisk product design failure modes.
Participate in gate reviews, ensuring that all manufacturability criteria are met.
Act as a technical liaison between design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams, ensuring alignment on product and process requirements.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, fostering skill development and best practices.
YOU HAVE:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in design, manufacturing engineering, industrialization, or related roles.
Proficiency in DFM/DFA principles for both mechanical and electrical components.
Familiarity with automotive and EV-specific manufacturing processes, including high-voltage systems and precision assembly is a plus.
Experience in tooling, jigs and fixtures development and validation.
Familiarity with CAD software and PLM tools (AutoCAD, Solidworks, PDM.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
