Why this role matters
As HSSE Manager, you will facilitate the development, implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the project's Health, Safety, Security, and Environment management system, ensuring compliance with Scatec standards, legal requirements, and international best practice while fostering a strong safety culture.
What you'll be doing
- In collaboration with management and the Health and Safety Agent, ensure compliance with applicable legislation and other requirements.
- Ensure legal permits are in place, maintain, compliance and develop, implement and continual improve the project HSSE management system documentation.
- Keep informed of new regulatory developments and other safety issues and to disseminate such information as required.
- Report accomplishments, results, problem areas and deficiencies to management with recommendations for corrective actions where needed.
- Assist management to ensure effective implementation of the project's HSSE program and continual improvement.
- Supervise the HSSE Program and assume authority of monitoring and enforcing the elements of the program.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing project HSSE team to ensure effective implementation of safety policies on-site.
- Establish communications systems encouraging worker participation in identifying and correcting HSSE hazards.
- Ensure all accidents and incidents are reported, investigated and mitigation measures implemented accordingly and encourage an open attitude towards reporting of incidents and creating an environment for discussions of incidents including sharing lessons learned
- Plan and execute HSSE internal audits and participate on external audits and ensure that audit recommendations are effectively implemented.
- Liaison with authorities and other stakeholders regarding project's HSSE management and report to management

What you'll bring
- Education: University Degree or equivalent and/or valid qualification on environment, occupational health, and safety
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in construction HSSE management and registered as CHSM with SACPCMP
- Language: fluent both in written and spoken English
- Valid SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Manager
- In depth understanding of a risk based HSSE management system
- Team player, building a positive HSSE culture
- Knowledge of international standards related to HSSE (i.e., ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.)
- Knowledge of IFC’s HSSE guidelines, IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, and HSE laws and regulations

- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and perform job tasks independently
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and maintain perspective in the midst of changing timelines and rapid decision making.
- Detail-oriented and capable of driving multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and ability to work closely with members of different business groups and functions of a global company at all levels
Additional information:
- Must be able to work in an open plan environment
- Must be able to work extended hours when required
Must have valid Public SA driver's licence.
