Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for a Community Liaison Officer in Menya, Egypt to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Community Liaison Officer you will maintain stakeholder relations between Obelisk Solar Power project in Scatec and the local community. To implement social management processes and community development initiatives to mitigate project related impacts and to benefit local communities.

Main responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships between the project and local communities, fostering trust and collaboration.
  • Promote continuous community engagement by creating opportunities for involvement and open dialogue.
  • Act as the key liaison between the project and community stakeholders, including facilitating meetings and consultations.
  • Ensure timely and transparent communication of project updates to communities and relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder databases, including community profiles, expectations, and engagement records.
  • Manage community feedback and grievance mechanisms, escalating critical issues to project and line management.
  • Coordinate with project teams and local authorities on resettlement activities and communication of local employment opportunities.
  • Identify, develop, and support community development initiatives and partnerships aligned with sustainability objectives, while providing regular activity reports.

Qualifications and competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies or a related field.
  • Good understanding of local and governmental practices, with strong knowledge of community culture, language, and customs.
  • Proficient in MS Office and general IT tools; able to prepare reports in English.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing environments and operational needs, with a valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in community-related roles is an advantage.
  • Exposure to socio-economic development, stakeholder management, strategy development, and project management is a plus.

Additional information

  • The role is mainly on-site as the candidate is expected to be a Menya resident, may require traveling to the site, office in Cairo occasionally, and to stakeholder locations .
  • 12 Month Contract with potential contract extension.
