Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for HV Primary Plant Engineer in Cairo, Egypt to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.
As our HV Primary Plant Engineer, you will lead and support the design and delivery of technically compliant MV and HV interconnection projects, with a focus on primary plant, HV/MV equipment, and substation design. You will take ownership of ensuring all technical and contractual requirements are effectively implemented, enabling the successful completion of projects. You will also support project development and operations through technical assessments, due diligence, and collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Main responsibilities
- Follow company operating system guidelines and contribute to continuous improvement and optimization.
- Support project development by reviewing interconnection solutions and assessing technical feasibility and business case.
- Evaluate preliminary grid studies and simulation models to determine required compensation equipment (e.g., STATCOMs, SVCs, capacitor banks).
- Develop technical base case, specifications, and interconnection requirements in line with contracts and grid codes.
- Support procurement by contributing to RFP preparation, technical evaluations, and supplier selection.
- Manage and review detailed engineering designs for primary plant, protection, telecoms, and interconnection systems.
- Coordinate stakeholders and ensure all technical requirements are aligned through structuring, design, and financial close phases.
- Support execution, commissioning, and operations by ensuring design compliance, resolving issues, and improving system performance.
Qualifications and competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronic Engineering (master’s degree is an advantage).
- Minimum 4+ years of electrical engineering experience, including project environment exposure.
- Strong experience in distribution and reticulation design.
- Knowledge of power systems, substation and transmission line design; familiarity with tools like Power Factory, ETAP, or PSCAD is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with AutoCAD and project management certification are advantageous.
- Experience in renewable energy project interconnection, site-based work, and fluency in Arabic and English are preferred.
Additional Information:
- 12 Month Contract with potential contract extension.
