Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for a Project Technical Manager in Ras Gharib, Egypt to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.
The Project Technical Manager will be responsible for all the technical deliverables from project structuring through to technical handover on the Interconnection Works (MV Switchgear, HV substations and OHLs) for a dedicated Scatec project, or portfolio of linked projects.
Main responsibilities
- Review and approve technical supply contracts to ensure compliance with the PPA, Grid Code, Scatec functional requirements, permits, and other key project documents.
- Monitor and facilitate contractor detailed design reviews to ensure alignment with project requirements, local regulations, and industry best practices.
- Ensure the project programme is realistic, incorporating design timelines, equipment procurement, commissioning activities, and grid connection requirements.
- Manage technical interfaces with contractors, equipment suppliers, utilities, and grid operators to align on all technical approvals and requirements.
- Oversee the utility interface process, including grid connection approvals, detailed design reviews, and compliance under the Grid Connection Agreement/EPA.
- Manage and assess design change requests while supporting the Project Manager in identifying, mitigating, and tracking technical risks through the Risk Register.
- Support project execution by attending technical meetings, coordinating with consultants and stakeholders, and conducting regular site visits to ensure construction compliance with design and technical standards.
- Plan and manage commissioning activities, grid code compliance testing, project reporting, and support project close-out by ensuring all technical documentation is completed to achieve timely COD/TTO.
Qualifications and competencies
Education & Core Expertise: Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, or Electromechanical Engineering, with strong knowledge of MS Office.
Professional Experience: Over 7 years in Project Engineering, including at least 5 years on construction projects involving Substations and Transmission Lines.
Regulatory & Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with Egyptian Grid Code, HV Regulations, and proven ability to liaise with local utilities, authorities, and stakeholders.
Language & Mobility: Fluent in English and Arabic, based locally, with frequent site travel availability and a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Background: Prior roles as design engineer, and in erection, commissioning, and testing of High Voltage Substations.
Additional Credentials: Project Management Certificate and/or master’s degree in engineering considered ideal
