Main purpose of position

Currently we are looking for a Data Analytics Engineer in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.

As our Data Analytics Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the business to make data-driven decisions and improving self-service Business Intelligence within Scatec.

You will engage with teams across Finance, Project Development, Asset Management, HR, Solutions and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) to understand business processes and value drivers and translate them into robust data solutions.

You will have ownership of the end-to-end data flow, including architecture, transformation, governance and platform optimisation, while promoting data best practices across the organisation.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop, own and maintain a central data architecture and platform/service for relevant data across the organisation

  • Deliver valuable and high-quality data products to business units

  • Expand and centralise common business data and enterprise data models

  • Ensure best practice infrastructure and database optimisation for improved delivery lead-time

  • Design and execute processes to ensure strong data governance, quality and integrity

  • Build and maintain common datasets for self-service reporting across the organisation

  • Maintain global standard reports and data sets

  • Train and support end users in reporting tools and relevant analysis tools

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or other quantitative field, or relevant experience with documented results

  • 2–3 years relevant professional experience

  • Fluent in both written and spoken English

  • Excellence in data engineering and building data transformation pipelines using SQL and DBT

  • Strong understanding of data modelling concepts and techniques for data warehousing and governance

  • Experience with Databricks and Azure

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, DevOps and DataOps practices

  • Experience in data integration across enterprise systems

  • Ability to work with data visualisation and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI and Excel

  • Familiarity with Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations is favourable

  • Knowledge of ML models and MLOps is an advantage
