Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for E&S Advisor in Cairo, Egypt to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.

As our E&S Advisor you will Contribute to establishing, implementing and maintaining performance of the Environmental and Social (E&S) management system for the entire value chain. Support the organization in ensuring compliance to the internal E&S framework and local regulations, best practices and lender performance requirements. Build and drive a positive company E&S culture.

Main responsibilities

  1. ESIA & ESMS Development: Support the development and coordination of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), implement Environmental and Social Action Plans (ESAPs), and develop the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS).
  2. Standards Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement: Ensure project adherence to international standards like Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards, and lead dialogue with lenders on social and environmental issues.
  3. Community Investment & Development: Develop and execute community engagement plans, manage community investment applications, monitor impact, and ensure alignment with Scatec’s Community Investment strategy.
  4. Monitoring & Reporting: Lead digitalization of community investment reporting, conduct internal and third-party audits, and produce regular E&S reports for lenders and stakeholders.
  5. Project E&S Inputs: Provide Environmental & Social inputs for new project development, including due diligence, ESIA, ESMPs, and contractor management.
  6. Lender & Stakeholder Engagement: Manage stakeholder engagement activities, contribute to grievance mechanisms, and coordinate with lenders on site audits and project compliance.
  7. Operational Support & Maintenance: Develop and update operation and maintenance management systems, ensuring environmental and social considerations are integrated into operational projects.
  8. Site & Contractor Management: Oversee contractor management, site audits, accommodation audits, and ensure implementation of lender ESAPs during project execution.

Qualifications and competencies

  1. Educational Background & Experience: University degree in Social Science, Development Studies, Economics, or similar, with 3-4 years of experience in sustainable or international development, including fieldwork.
  2. Project & Stakeholder Management: Experience in managing projects, coordinating multiple stakeholders, and engaging with senior stakeholders at various levels.
  3. Technical & Data Skills: Knowledge of environmental and social management standards (especially IFC PS), with advanced skills in Power BI, Power Apps, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  4. Language Skills & Additional Assets: Fluent in English and Arabic; experience living and working abroad; proficiency in data collection and field information gathering.

Additional Information:

  • 12 Month Contract with potential contract extension.
