Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for a O&M Technician in Nagaa Hammadi, Egypt to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our O&M Technician you will be responsible for the general and safe operation at the plants under his/her control and to ensure maximum power supply to the grid. Additionally, be responsible for coordinating and facilitating global control Officer duties as per PSR and ORHVS requirements and as required by the Plant Safety Engineer.

Main responsibilities

  • Performing the Following Tasks On-Site:
    • Modifying, repairing, and maintaining electrical equipment and systems.
    • Conducting switching, isolation, grounding, and lockout-tagout (LOTO) procedures as authorized for Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) systems.
    • Executing Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) activities.
    • Inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and components.
    • Repairing PV modules, mounting structures, combiner boxes, and DC systems.
    • Ensuring inverter availability and troubleshooting faults.
    • Repairing transformers and circuit breakers for both LV and HV systems.
    • Performing switching operations on LV and HV networks as authorized.
    • Modifying, Maintaining and repairing mechanical systems such as solar tracker structures.
    • Conducting monthly inspections of electrical tools and equipment.
    • Acting as an Authorized Person (AP) or Competent Person (CP) as required by the site.
    • Follow Grid Operator (NCC/RCC/LDC) instructions for dispatch, switching, curtailment
    • Maintain real-time measuring/monitoring/control at GCP; store 2 years of data
    • Telemetry of bay status (CBs, disconnectors, earthing switches), protection & telecom alarms
    • Receive and execute active & reactive set-points from Grid Operator
    • Maintain substation auxiliary power (AC/DC, batteries) and perform needed tests to ensure it is operational
    • Ensure continuity of sending P, Q, V, f to Dispatch Center (telemetry uptime)
    • Maintain interfaces with EETC: OHL/OPGW terminations, telecom, protection, meters
  • Supervising and Training Staff:
    • Supervising and training new employees on assigned tasks.
    • Acting as a Team Lead in the plant supervisor’s absence.
    • Overseeing and training electrical staff on technical and safety practices.
  • Reporting and Compliance:
    • Assisting with reporting requirements and documentation related to site operations.
    • Performing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) inspections and audits.
    • Reporting to the Plant Supervisor and assuming responsibilities during their absence.
    • Carrying out general site tasks as required

Qualifications and competencies

  • Min:
  • Technical high school or equivalent certificate in electrical field
  • 3+ years Electrical experience – AC & DC (LV, HV)
  • Proven experience of AC & DC electrical troubleshooting and repairs

  • Ideal:
  • Training certificates on electrical systems
  • HV substation operation & maintenance (HV&MV switching, testing instruments, protection relay testing and calibration)
  • Solar PV Plant (inverters, trackers and combiner box)
  • Good at using computer programs (word & Excel)
  • Fluent in English, spoken and written and fluent in Arabic
  • You are used to changing environments and to quickly meet new challenges

Additional information

The role requires standby availability, the ability to cover Plant Supervisor duties, readiness to travel when needed, and a valid driver’s license.
