Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for a Project Development Manager - Wind and Solar in Cairo, Egypt to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Project Development Manager you will take the lead
on the local development activities of wind and solar projects in Egypt. This includes maintaining key relationships with local stakeholders, supporting design activities, driving due diligence process with lenders and equity investors, and maintaining project timeline and budget. Ability to structure and negotiate complex transactions, to lead external and internal development processes, and to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams is key to successfully lead the project to construction start.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead & Support project development and structuring of secured projects under development, including coordination of:
    1. Land acquisition and land assessment
    2. Interconnection
    3. Permits, licenses and authorizations
    4. Power purchase agreements or other offtake arrangements
    5. Yield, capex, opex and other relevant input parameters
    6. Business case
  • Support the processes of project finance and execution preparations for the projects
  • Support process of local country set-up, where required
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external project development efforts including securing land, obtaining required local permits and approvals, securing interconnection rights from utilities, negotiating PPAs with utilities, establishing EPC and O&M agreements, as well as securing project equity and debt financing.
  • Lead market reviews, analysing regulatory issues and policy supports for utility-scale renewable energy projects and develop development strategies for countries or regions

Qualifications and competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, law or other relevant fields. MBA or Master’s degree in finance/law/policy an advantage but not required
  • 7 - 10 years of relevant professional experience, which could include experience within renewable energy project development and/or investment, management consulting or investment banking, among other professional backgrounds
  • Strong project management and negotiation skills
  • Experience with originating, managing, and closing complex transactions, including deal structuring and project finance
  • Strong understanding of relevant power markets, network within renewable energy space in region, and exposure to regulatory and environmental credit schemes relevant to renewable energy a plus
  • Working knowledge and understanding of power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, permitting requirements, bidding processes, EPC contract terms and conditions is preferable, but not strictly required
  • Strong knowledge of business fundamentals and financial analysis
  • Fluent both written and spoken in English
