Main purpose of position

Currently we are looking for a Reward and Payroll Advisor in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Reward and Payroll Advisor you will be responsible for supporting both global reward processes across 23+ countries as well as ensuring accurate and timely payroll administration for the Sub-Sahara Africa (SSA) business. The ideal candidate should have a strong analytical mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and a deep understanding of compensation practices and payroll procedures.

Main responsibilities

Payroll Management: Sub Saharan Africa

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including data entry, verifying timekeeping records, deductions, and ensuring accuracy.
  • Calculate and process salary adjustments, bonuses, commissions, and other compensation-related items
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax requirements
  • Process and reconcile payroll-related invoices, benefit premiums, and other financial transactions
  • Collaborate with local HR to onboard and offboard employees and ensure accurate setup of payroll profiles
  • Address payroll-related inquiries and issues from employees in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain employee records in the payroll system, including updates to personal information, tax withholding, and direct deposit details.
  • Generate payroll reports for management and finance teams as required
  • Build and drive a shared services function that overlooks both Payroll and People data inputs
  • In partnership with the HR Co-ordinator/s ensure quarterly audit reports are done on data loaded on People vs. Sage with quarterly tracking tools
  • Develop a shared-services hub where all data integrity system matters will be handled centrally with the support of the HR Co-ordinators

Reward Analysis

  • Support the Head of Reward in the management and evolution of the global reward programme for a market leader in renewable energy, ensuring the Scatec reward programme remains competitive and aligned with the organisations strategy and business objectives
  • Conduct in-dept analysis of compensation and benefits data identifying trends and strategic insights to inform the people strategy
  • Benchmark compensation packages against external market to ensure competitiveness, providing recommendations for adjustments where necessary
  • Evaluate and optimize employee benefits by analyzing employee usage, feedback, and industry best practices. Make recommendations to enhance the overall benefits offering
  • Support with the orchestration of the annual global reward cycles including salary reviews, bonus programme, option and share programmes
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and management of variable pay and incentive programs to drive performance and reward top talent
  • Conduct job evaluations to determine appropriate job levels, titles, and salary ranges, ensuring consistency across the organization.
  • Generate regular reports on compensation metrics and trends, providing actionable insights to support decision-making
  • Effectively communicate compensation and benefits changes to employees, managers, and stakeholders while ensuring understanding and alignment
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging regulations in compensation and benefits to inform the development of innovative reward strategies
  • Ensure that all compensation and benefits programs adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, including equal pay and other relevant laws

Qualifications and compentencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CCP, CBP) advantageous
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Compensation or Reward Analyst, preferably in a fast-paced corporate environment
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret complex data sets.
  • Proficiency in using compensation analysis tools and software
  • Solid understanding of compensation practices, market trends, and legal regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Detail-oriented and able to maintain data accuracy and confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and HRIS systems
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

  • Should be available and accustomed to travel both domestically and internationally to 3rd world countries
