We are on the lookout for a Fitter to ensure optimum plant availability through maintenance, overhaul, and repair of machinery, equipment, and mechanical systems according to engineering specifications and safety standards, contributing to overall equipment effectiveness. You will provide mechanical services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and replacement needs; installing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading mechanical systems and equipment; and ensuring that necessary tools and materials are available and well-maintained.

As a Fitter, you will be responsible for:

Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental Compliance

  • Understand and comply with section SHEQ requirements, organizational policies, procedures, and best operating practices.
  • Participate in SHEQ incident investigations, identify root causes, and correct mechanical maintenance non-conformances.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in the workplace and assist production personnel with plant isolation processes.

Plant and Equipment Efficiency

  • Fit, assemble, grind, shape metal parts, and install, test, connect, commission, and modify mechanical equipment.
  • Perform plant maintenance and remedial work according to SAP notifications, work orders, and planned schedules (including shuts).
  • Complete work orders, notifications, and draw necessary spares from Stores using SAP picking lists.
  • Execute fault finding during breakdowns, perform repairs to minimize downtime, and participate in failure analysis.
  • Conduct daily and weekly equipment inspections according to detailed checklists and report defects or risks to supervisors.
  • Scope and plan work orders as required to optimize mechanical maintenance tasks.
  • Cover after-hours/weekend breakdowns on a standby basis and perform required overtime duties.
  • Share technical knowledge across plant sections and perform any other assigned tasks within the scope of a Fitter.

What are we looking for?

  • Grade 12 or N3 Engineering.
  • Recognised Trade Test Certificate as a Mechanical Fitter or Fitter and Turner.
  • 2 Years post-apprenticeship experience in a heavy engineering environment will be advantageous.
  • Valid Driving License.
