We’re on the lookout for an Maintenance Support Instruments to supervise skilled maintenance personnel and coordinate the safe and efficient execution of maintenance activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring long-term plant availability, equipment reliability, and effective maintenance planning, while contributing to improved Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and supporting continuous operational excellence.
As an Maintenance Support Instruments you will be responsible for:
SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT & QUALITY (SHEQ)
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with SHEQ standards, legal requirements, and company procedures.
- Investigate SHEQ incidents, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and maintain high housekeeping standards across the work area.
- Monitor team compliance with safety requirements and address non-conformances to support a safe and compliant workplace.
OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
- Plan, coordinate, and execute maintenance activities by assessing labour, materials, equipment, and resources to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance execution.
- Coordinate contractors and maintenance teams to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and in accordance with mill standards and engineering requirements.
- Lead and support complex maintenance activities, equipment reliability improvements, shutdown planning and execution, and the resolution of instrumentation-related maintenance issues.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, improve master data quality, and ensure the effective utilisation of SAP and other maintenance systems.
- Prioritise and allocate maintenance work orders, manage predictive maintenance initiatives, participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and support continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Participate in standby duties and work overtime as required to ensure reliable plant operation and maintenance support.
CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal customers, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure responsive and high-quality maintenance support.
- Respond proactively to customer feedback and implement corrective actions to continuously improve service delivery.
ENGAGED & DEVELOPED WORKFORCE
- Support the supervision, coaching, mentoring, and development of maintenance personnel to build technical capability and improve team performance.
- Assist with workforce planning, performance management, skills development, training, and employee development to ensure a competent, engaged, and high-performing maintenance team.
What are we looking for?
- Post-Matric Certificate, Diploma, or NQF Level 5–6 qualification.
- Recognised Instrument Trade Certificate.
- Minimum of 3–5 years' plant operations or maintenance experience.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in the Pulp and Paper industry will be advantageous.
- SAP knowledge will be advantageous.
- Valid driver's licence.
