We’re on the lookout for an experienced Technical Training Officer: Mechanical to conduct accredited mechanical training for apprentices, mechanical technical training and assessments for mill employees and community trainees (as and when required).
As a Technical Training Officer: Mechanical, you will be responsible for:
- Planning and managing mechanical training schedules, including apprenticeships, trade test preparation, and technical/community training
- Facilitating theory and practical training for mechanical fitter, fitter & turner, and millwright apprentices
- Developing and updating training materials and assessments in line with industry and instructional design standards
- Monitoring apprentice progress, conducting assessments, moderations, and providing individual coaching and support
- Preparing and administering SETA documentation, trade test registrations, and reporting requirements
- Designing and maintaining practical training rigs, workshop tools, and ensuring adherence to safety standards
- Collaborating with the Mill Engineering Team to identify and implement practical, cost-effective training and improvement projects
- Ensuring compliance with learning governance by maintaining accurate records and training sessions on the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Evaluating and adopting innovative training methods, such as digital learning and simulation tools
- Maintaining discipline, safety, and housekeeping within the Skills Centre to ensure an effective learning environment
What are we looking for?
- Grade 12
- Trade Tested qualified - Mechanical (Fitting and Turning)
- 3 – 5 years’ experience as an artisan in a manufacturing environment
- Training Facilitator experience would be advantageous
- Qualified Assessor and/or Moderator would be advantageous
