We’re on the lookout for an Outside Operator Evaps 2 & 3 to safely and efficiently operate the No 2 and 3 Evaporator outside plants to ensure optimum production output and quality at the best cost with minimum downtime.

As an Outside Operator, you will be responsible to:

• Shift Management, take and hand over shifts for Evaporator 2 and 3, including all outside plant operations.
• Equipment Oversight, control and audit the operating parameters and functionality of all Evaporator 2 & 3 equipment.
• Inspection and Maintenance, conduct pre-start-up inspections, isolate equipment as needed, and follow shutdown procedures for Evaporator 2 & 3.
• Problem Reporting, report any operating problems, abnormal conditions, and production delays to the Process Controller, including corrective actions taken.
• Sampling and Quality Control, take samples of strong and weak black liquor, evaluate sample logs, and check liquor and condensate quality for any anomalies.
• Shift Forecast and Communication, understand shift forecasts, evaluate external influences, and communicate potential disruptions to the Shift Superintendent. Respond to all communication promptly.
• Production Optimization, optimize plant status, raw material consumption, and ensure all equipment defects are addressed immediately.
• Shut Management, maintain and prioritize the shut list for Evaporator 2 & 3, record relevant defects, and communicate issues as necessary.
• Safety and Compliance, create a safe work environment, report accidents and fires, ensure adherence to safety procedures, legal requirements, and achieve 5S status. Conduct plant inspections and complete PJO’s.
• Training and Administration, coach and train new employees, engage in self-development, capture accurate plant data, and record deviations and notifications.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

• N3 Pulp and Paper or Matric (Maths & Psychical Science)
• S4 in Chem Eng or Pulp and Paper will be advantageous
• Relevant plant licence will be advantageous
• 6 months experience in a Production environment.
