Commodity Specialist: ESD (HRL 15U)

We’re on the lookout for an experienced Commodity Specialist: ESD to create an inclusive environment in the supply market and provide developmental support for a thriving local SME sector.

This role reports into the ESD Manager, Procurement.

As a Commodity Specialist, you will be responsible for:

SME Onboarding:

  • Engage and screen SMEs interested in participating in ESD programs.
  • Process necessary documentation for SME onboarding.
  • Coordinate and evaluate SME assessments, ensuring compliance and eligibility.
  • Verify data accuracy and communicate effectively with stakeholders throughout the onboarding process.

ESD Program Execution Support:

  • Coordinate training interventions for SMEs in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Engage both internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Project manage service delivery involving multiple stakeholders, ensuring timely execution.
  • Track ESD interventions and provide regular progress updates.
  • Facilitate procurement of necessary facilities and resources for ESD initiatives.
  • Maintain an audit trail for B-BBEE verification purposes, including job creation, procurement, and expenditure records.
  • Conduct data analysis and processing to support ESD initiatives.
  • Provide support to the ESD Specialist in the execution of service delivery.
  • Provide support to internal stakeholders on the implementation of certain initiatives that relate to the ESD program and the broader procurement function.

ESD Reporting:

  • Continuously track and record overall ESD activity, including milestones and achievements.
  • Maintain ESD data across multiple sources and systems to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
  • Structure reporting information according to stakeholder requirements, ensuring clarity and relevance.
  • Generate accurate reports on ESD programs for various stakeholders, including management meetings, Compliance Monitoring Committees (CMC), and Investment Committee Forums (ICF).

What are we looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in procurement, supplier development, or similar roles within a corporate environment.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Understanding of B-BBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) requirements and verification processes is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
