OnePower Lesotho (1PWR) is seeking a Productive Use of Electricity (PUECO) Officer to drive its PUE program alongside electrification of rural villages in Lesotho. The Officer will manage field operations and business development initiatives. This role combines operational management, training coordination, and stakeholder engagement to ensure successful implementation of our productive use programs. The Productive Use of Electricity Company (PUECO) promotes productive applications of electricity in communities served by 1PWR. Therefore, the Officer will empower local entrepreneurs, particularly women, through appliance sales, business training, and capacity building to create sustainable economic opportunities. The Officer will be expected to collect data to provide sponsors with information on the impact and scalability of the projects.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Track and manage invoices for appliance sales, training programs, and operational expenses.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
  • Organize, and manage comprehensive training programs for local small businesswomen.
  • Recruit and coordinate with local trainers and subject matter experts.
  • Monitor training effectiveness and implement improvements based on participant feedback.
  • Oversee the procurement, delivery, and distribution of electrical appliances to local retail partners with help of Procurement team.
  • Manage inventory tracking and quality control processes.
  • Identify and train potential local women shopkeepers and entrepreneurs.
  • Monitor business performance and provide targeted support for growth.
  • Develop comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all program activities.
  • Coordinate closely with 1PWR site teams to align electricity access with productive use initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local community leaders.
  • Represent PUECo at community meetings and stakeholder events.
  • Travel to rural and remote locations required (20% of time).

Required qualifications, skills and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Project Management, Development Studies, or related field
2-4 years of program management experience, preferably in development sector
Experience working in rural or underserved communities
Financial management and contract negotiation skills
Excellent communication skills in English and Sesotho
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools
In-depth experience with data collection and analysis
Field (community-based) work/research experience
Passion for women’s economic empowerment programs
Background in supply chain management or retail operations
