OnePower (1PWR) is seeking a Logistics and Procurement Officer to oversee the procurement and associated logistics tasks within OnePower activities of electrification of rural villages in Lesotho. OnePower Lesotho, a startup Independent Power Producer (IPP), has been selected as the preferred developer of a utility scale solar PV power plant (first to be privately financed in Lesotho). In addition to on-grid solar OnePower was incorporated with a mission to develop bankable pay as you go (PAYG) solar mini-grids for community electrification and is currently in the execution phase of its Minigrids Portfolio.

Responsibilities of the Logistics and Procurement Officer include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a procurement plan for non-project and project related procurement.
  • Monitor the progress of the procurement plan and provide any feedback to project management team.
  • Handle all ad hoc queries with SARS and LRA related to the movement of goods in and out of Lesotho.
  • Implement a document management system and central repository of all documents pertaining to the transport of goods (Commercial invoice, Bill of Lading, customs clearing documents, SAD500, CN2 form, Exit Note, etc).
  • Take part of the Supply Chain strategy and provide input in terms of VAT and duties applicable to specific equipment procured out of Lesotho.
  • Handle all overhead transport and shipping on an ad hoc basis.
  • Capacity to prepare monthly budget for all logistics activities at the company level.
  • Managing temporary import and export of goods.
  • Be the representative of OnePower and point of contact with LRA and SARS on all customs clearing activities.

Required skills and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years work experience demonstrating relevant experience in transport, logistics and customs clearing environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Sesotho
  • Facility with information technology (computers, tablets, office software for data analysis and documents generation)
  • Computer skills (minimum Microsoft word, excel, some macro/database exposure preferred)
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Diploma in relevant field.
