Job Description
You will be working on rail systems and infrastructure projects with a close-knit team of motivated and diverse professionals from various backgrounds. You will receive support from your management team and there will be opportunities for both formal and informal training. This role reports to the Rail Systems Assurance Lead within Mott MacDonald Canada.
Responsibilities will include:
- Perform Hazard Analysis, RAM Analysis, Safety Risk Assessment, and SIL Apportionment activities and generate reports for submission to clients
- Develop Systems Engineering plans and process related to System Safety, RAM, Hazard Identification and Management
- Contribute to the System Assurance elements of project bids within Mott MacDonald Canada, including RAM and Safety Management.
- Contribute to the Systems Assurance (SA) elements of project delivery within Mott MacDonald Canada, including RAM, V&V, Safety Case development and Safety Certification.
- Provide SA support and insight to each project’s management and delivery team
- Work with key delivery partners and service providers for projects.
- Undertake cost review and analysis of System Assurance costs against delivery on each production project. Where necessary, discuss and agree corrective actions with relevant team members.
- Engage with end clients and project delivery partners as and when necessary
- Work with the System Assurance lead on the adoption and delivery of key System Assurance processes and practices within MM’s North American business; to include System Safety, Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM), Verification and Validation (V&V) and Safety Management
Candidate Specification
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering/Science (preferably Systems/Reliability/Railway Engineering).
- EIT in BC or Ontario, or eligible for membership with EGBC or PEO
- 2-5 years’ experience in System Assurance with preferred experience in rail and transit projects
- Working knowledge of a minimum of two of the following (with some exposure to the remainder):
- RAM (EN 50126)
- V&V
- Hazard identification and management
- Safety Integrity identification and management (EN 50126/IEC 61508)
- Safety Case development
- Safety Certification (EN 51026 and /or MIL 882E)
- Safety Risk Assessment (CMREA)
- Good communication skills and English fluency.
- Good interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team
- Able to hold competent technical discussions with Client representatives
- Able to interface with domain specialists, design managers and construction project managers, in a competent professional manner
- Experience of delivery within major infrastructure or rail and transit projects
- Knowledge of railway systems and / or operation within infrastructure projects / technology development and implementation projects
- Travel is part of the job, and it is expected that the successful applicant will be able to travel within Canada and the US to MM locations, project offices, clients and construction sites.
