We are looking for a Field Sales Manager to lead the recruitment and management of Direct Sales Representatives (DSRs), drive sales quota attainment, and expand sales channels across an assigned geographical location in Uganda.

This role offers the opportunity to own your territory—building a high-performing field sales team that delivers results, upholds brand values, and drives financial inclusion across Uganda. You’ll recruit, coach, and develop DSRs, execute end-to-end sales programs, manage inventory, and grow local networks that expand M-KOPA’s market presence. You’ll be the bridge between business strategy and field execution—the leader who ensures every DSR understands the direction, embraces the change, and delivers the numbers.

About Us

We foster a culture where sales leadership meets business ownership. Our team values data-driven decision-making, disciplined execution, and leadership that develops people while delivering results. You’ll be empowered to design sales strategies, build local networks, and drive customer credit performance that directly contributes to profitability and business growth across your assigned territory.

At M-KOPA, our Field Sales Managers aren’t just team supervisors—they’re territory owners who build sales capability from the ground up, protect brand integrity in the field, and create the customer relationships that keep millions of Ugandans connected to life-changing products.

In this role, you would be responsible for:

Team Building & People Development

  • Recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and establishing a robust sales and customer-centric skill set for Direct Sales Representatives

  • Being a change catalyst—ensuring any change in business focus is embraced and adhered to by the team rather than met with resistance

  • Building a motivated, accountable field sales team with a collective winning mentality

  • Cascading business direction seamlessly and effortlessly to the direct sales channel

Sales Execution & Territory Management

  • Overseeing the overall implementation of sales programs and end-to-end execution of sales activities in sync with business direction within assigned territory

  • Designing sales and marketing strategies for the team to ensure weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales targets are reached and exceeded

  • Actively seeking out sales opportunities in assigned geographical locations through lead generation, excellent pitching, customer profiling, and exceptional after-sales calls

  • Developing local networks to assist in growing sales volumes and expanding market presence

Inventory & Stock Management

  • Managing inventory with a methodical and systematic approach for assigned depot/location

  • Ensuring stock accountability and proper controls across the field sales operation

  • Maintaining healthy inventory discipline across all DSRs in the territory

Credit Performance & Business Profitability

  • Aligning sales goals and processes to build solid customer credit performance

  • Being fully engrossed in keeping a healthy credit standing in the assigned area of operation

  • Maximizing profitability through disciplined sales processes and customer screening

  • Driving customer satisfaction and business profitability through the direct sales representative channel

Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Staying abreast of competitor intelligence, customer insights, and market trends—promptly sharing with internal teams

  • Interpreting reports seamlessly and populating weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual business-centric reports

  • Preparing and submitting weekly activity plans and reports to the Regional Sales Manager

  • Using data to identify opportunities, address gaps, and continuously sharpen field sales performance

Brand & Values Leadership

  • Pioneering and upholding M-KOPA brand values at all times in the field

  • Ensuring all DSR activities reflect M-KOPA’s commitment to customer-first selling and ethical business practices

  • Maintaining professionalism and integrity standards across the entire field team

This is a field-based leadership role (Job Band D2) located in Uganda, within the Sales department. If successful, you would be reporting to the Regional Sales Manager.

Your application should demonstrate:

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or any other relevant field

  • 3+ years of sales experience with a proven track record of leadership

  • Experience managing field sales teams and DSR networks

  • Track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets in a field environment

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills with strong pitching and closing ability

  • Ability to motivate and lead a team toward collective goals

  • Excellent communication and people skills—you cascade direction clearly and inspire action

  • Good planning and organizational skills with ability to manage territory operations systematically

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with urgency and composure under pressure

  • Data-driven mindset—you interpret reports, spot trends, and make decisions based on evidence

  • Proficiency in MS Office tools for reporting and planning

  • Change catalyst ability—you bring teams with you through change rather than fighting resistance

Core Competencies

  • Business Acumen: You understand how field sales activity connects to revenue, credit performance, and profitability

  • Conflict Management: You resolve team and customer issues with professionalism and fairness

  • Collaborative Skills: You work effectively with internal teams and DSRs for collective success

  • Professionalism & Ethics: You uphold high integrity standards in every interaction

  • Self-Management: You take ownership of your territory and results without needing to be micromanaged
