We are looking for a Technical Assistant to join our Warehouse and Logistics group; as we scale up and drive digital and financial inclusion across our markets.
Job Purpose
The Technical Assistant – Phone Refurbishing & Warehouse Operations is responsible for supporting device refurbishing, warehouse inventory management, quality inspections, and operational tracking processes. The role ensures returned devices are properly refurbished, graded, cleaned, and processed in line with company quality and operational standards before being released back into the market.
The position requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety and quality procedures, and the ability to work efficiently within a fast-paced warehouse and technical operations environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Warehouse Inventory & Stock Management
Support warehouse stock-taking activities and maintain accurate inventory records for returned and refurbished devices.
Organise devices and inventory to ensure efficient storage, tracking, and retrieval processes.
Assist in monitoring stock levels and reporting inventory discrepancies where identified.
Ensure proper documentation and tracking of devices throughout the refurbishment lifecycle.
2. Phone Refurbishing & Device Configuration
Perform basic phone refurbishing activities including software installation, device resets, configuration, and restoration to factory standards.
Ensure refurbished devices meet operational and quality standards before release.
Support troubleshooting of minor software or device-related issues during refurbishment processes.
Maintain proper handling and care of devices and technical equipment.
3. Quality Inspection & Device Grading
Conduct detailed quality inspections on returned and refurbished devices to assess functionality, appearance, and performance.
Grade devices accurately based on approved grading standards and quality criteria.
Identify cosmetic or functional defects, including scratches, cracks, battery issues, or software concerns.
Ensure only devices meeting company quality requirements proceed to market release.
4. Data Tracking & Reporting
Capture and maintain accurate refurbishment, inventory, and device status data using Excel or relevant operational systems.
Monitor processing progress and support reporting against operational targets and productivity metrics.
Generate routine operational updates and inventory reports for team leaders and supervisors.
Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping throughout operational processes.
5. Device Cleaning & Visual Inspection
Perform thorough cleaning and sanitisation of returned and refurbished devices to meet hygiene and presentation standards.
Conduct visual inspections to confirm devices are free from visible defects or damage.
Ensure devices meet company presentation and customer quality expectations before dispatch.
6. Process Improvement & Safety Compliance
Follow warehouse safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and apply Kaizen principles to improve operational efficiency and quality.
Ensure tools, equipment, and workstations are properly maintained and used safely.
Identify operational risks or inefficiencies and escalate improvement opportunities where appropriate.
7. Technical & Operational Support
Provide basic technical support related to refurbishment software and operational systems.
Assist team members with troubleshooting minor device or process-related issues.
Support operational activities as assigned to ensure smooth workflow and productivity within the warehouse environment.

Reports To: Warehouse Team Leader
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field from a recognised institution.
Experience
Previous experience in phone refurbishing, warehouse operations, technical support, or related operational environments is an advantage.
Familiarity with smartphone operating systems, including Android and iOS, is preferred.
Experience using inventory management or operational tracking systems is an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies
Basic understanding of phone refurbishment processes and device configuration.
Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately inspect and grade devices.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and operating systems.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Awareness of warehouse safety standards and operational compliance requirements.
Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and operational processes.
Work Environment
Full-time, on-site role within a warehouse and technical operations environment.
