As a Country HR Manager, you are expected to support our business function(s) by being a trusted partner to the key stakeholders and staff in these departments. Over time, the aim is to grow and allow you to play an important role in the design and implementation of strategic projects to retain and grow our staff. This will be your chance to drive your impeccable ideas and have full autonomy in driving your initiatives.

As the country HR Manager you will be a primary contact for the departments, serving as a connector to our internal HR functions, and an advisor on all people processes, procedures, and initiatives. You will report to the Head of Human Resources, East Africa.

To achieve this, you will:

  • You will support your managers in promoting a, innovation-driven culture, and ensure that performance management experiences are empowering, prioritizing fairness and objectivity

  • You will identify underperformance and thoughtfully address it swiftly

  • You will connect your managers and staff through the Learning and Development function to compelling learning opportunities to address coaching for performance and growth, advising on career opportunities

  • You will develop and implement, together with your managers - staff retention, career, and succession strategies

  • You will participate in employee engagement measurement programs, and action planning, and advocate for the cause of employee engagement as a measure of leadership

  • You will work with your managers to understand organizational challenges and design/implement creative solutions

  • Work in partnership with managers to provide guidance in dealing with difficult people issues in a fair, straightforward manner and without delay

  • You will develop healthy relationships with important partners within your group and the larger organization

  • You will coach leaders/managers on how to inspire and influence their teams and improve their communication practices

  • You will collaborate with other HRBP, HR Shared Services, and Centers of Excellence teams to identify best practices and use them to define business interventions.

  • You will share knowledge and insights with the wider People team to help shape best practices from a people perspective

Experience

  • 5 plus years of working experience preferably as an HR Generalist

  • Degree in Human resources or a similar relevant field

  • Excellent IT skills including the use of Microsoft Suite Applications

  • Ability to interact and use online assessment and feedback platforms

  • Comfortable with data analytics and has good experience with data manipulation using Excel (can perform complex functions) for reporting
