Role SummaryThe Operations Manager will oversee the operational functions of the company, ensuring efficient, high-quality delivery of products from production to dispatch. This role will manage the Cold Chain Team (responsible for freezer maintenance, trucks, and cold rooms), Logistics Team (ensuring seamless distribution and dispatch), and Production Team (focusing on processing and quality standards). The Operations Manager will also be responsible for stock accountability, asset management, and the supervision of riders, drivers, and other operational team members.

Key Responsibilities

Cold Chain & Logistics Management

  • Cold Chain Oversight: Manage cold chain infrastructure, including freezers, refrigerated trucks, and cold rooms, to maintain optimal conditions for product quality.
  • Logistics Coordination: Plan and execute distribution strategies, coordinating with the logistics team to ensure timely and efficient product delivery.
  • Asset Maintenance: Develop preventive maintenance schedules for trucks, cold rooms, and freezers to maximize equipment uptime and longevity

Stock Accountability & Asset Management

  • Inventory Control: Oversee inventory levels, track incoming and outgoing stock, and maintain records to prevent spoilage, stockouts, or overstocking.
  • Stock Audits: Conduct regular stock audits to verify accuracy of records and prevent loss through effective monitoring, tracking, and reporting systems.
  • Asset Management: Ensure accountability for all operational assets, including freezers, trucks, coldrooms, and equipment used in production and distribution.
  • Asset Tracking & Reporting: Maintain an asset log, oversee regular asset counts, and ensure any maintenance or repair activities are recorded and monitored.

Dispatch & Distribution

  • Dispatch Team Leadership: Guide the dispatch team in organizing and monitoring the distribution of white meat products, ensuring timely deliveries and product quality standards.
  • Route Optimization: Work with the dispatch team to plan optimal routes, improving delivery efficiency and reducing operational costs.
  • Delivery Verification: Implement processes to confirm delivery completion and accuracy, ensuring that products meet quality standards upon arrival.

Production & Quality Assurance

  • Production Supervision: Lead the production team in processing white meat products, enforcing high standards of quality, safety, and hygiene.
  • Quality Control: Implement rigorous quality checks in compliance with food safety regulations and industry standards, ensuring product integrity throughout production.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and drive improvements in production workflows to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and support product consistency.

Team Management & Supervision

  • Rider & Driver Oversight: Supervise riders and drivers, ensuring compliance with delivery schedules, route assignments, and safety protocols.
  • Training & Development: Provide training, development, and performance reviews for the operations team, fostering a skilled and motivated workforce.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all team members adhere to health and safety guidelines, supporting a culture of safety and regulatory compliance.

Operational Efficiency & Reporting

  • Process Improvement: Continuously assess operational workflows and implement improvements to optimize resource use and drive efficiency.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Leverage data to monitor performance metrics, track KPIs, and prepare reports on productivity, quality, stock levels, and asset utilization.
  • Budget Management: Oversee budgets for operations, maintaining cost efficiency while supporting operational goals and growth.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree is advantageous.
  • Experience: 5+ years in operations management, preferably in logistics, cold chain, or food production sectors.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and develop teams, particularly in logistics, production, and maintenance functions.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of cold chain management, asset management, stock accountability, and food production standards.
  • Analytical Ability: Proficient in data analysis and KPI monitoring; experience with asset tracking and inventory control systems.Key Competencies
