Role Overview:

The Finance Manager will play a vital role in overseeing the company’s financial health by managing the finance team, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, preparing accurate financial reports, and optimizing resource allocation. This position will focus on fund management, securing grants, and supporting the financial planning and budgeting processes for the organization. The Finance Manager will collaborate closely with senior leadership to implement strategies that promote financial sustainability and business growth. We are looking for a detail-oriented and strategic professional with a strong background in financial management, budgeting, reporting, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Prepare annual budgets and forecasts, analyze variances, and provide actionable insights.
  • Conduct financial modelling and scenario analyses to guide decision-making.

Financial Reporting:

  • Generate timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards.
  • Present financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
  • Develop strategies for effective cash management, including receivables and payables.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Identify financial risks and create mitigation strategies.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor the finance team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate training and development opportunities for finance personnel.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Establish relationships with banks and financial institutions for funding support.

Funds & Grant Management:

  • Ensure effective cash flow management to meet operational requirements.
  • Oversee grant applications and reporting, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
  • Monitor receivables, payables, and credit limits for timely payments and collections.
  • Collaborate with team leads on strategic financial initiatives such as fundraising and investment strategies.

Financial Analysis & Advisory:

  • Provide in-depth financial analysis on business performance, including key metrics and profitability ratios.
  • Support various departments with financial insights, pricing analysis, and cost control measures.
  • Analyze financial data and provide actionable recommendations for performance improvement.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Budget Accuracy: Maintain a variance of less than 5% between budgeted and actual performance.
  • Financial Reporting Timeliness: Ensure 100% of monthly reports are delivered within 5 business days of month-end.
  • Cash Flow Management: Maintain a cash reserve covering at least 3 months of operational expenses.
  • Compliance Rate: Achieve 100% compliance with local regulations, with zero penalties.
  • Team Development: Conduct quarterly performance reviews, aiming for an average team satisfaction score of 80% or higher.
  • Cost Reduction: Identify and implement measures for at least a 10% reduction in operational costs annually.
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Achieve a satisfaction rating of 85% or higher from stakeholders regarding financial services and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA(K) or ACCA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of financial management experience, ideally in an SME setting.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance in Kenya.
  • Proficient in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
