Are you a self-starter with the drive to take a charging site from idea to fully operational — not just get it started, but actually get it built? Do you have the electrical engineering grounding to judge technical feasibility yourself, and the discipline to keep a project moving through contracts and permits instead of letting it drift?

Kabisa is looking for an EV Charging Site Developer to lead the end-to-end development of new fast-charging sites across Rwanda and Kenya — from first site scouting through grid-connection feasibility, contracting, permitting, and installation.

JOB SUMMARY

As EV Charging Site Developer, you'll own the full lifecycle of bringing a new charging site online: finding and evaluating potential locations, assessing whether the site can get the grid connection it needs, negotiating and contracting with the site owner, bringing in and managing subcontractors to install the site, and pushing the permitting process through to completion.

This is a hands-on, project-management-heavy role. Technical judgment matters — you need to be able to assess electrical feasibility yourself rather than relying entirely on others — but so does follow-through. Sites without a disciplined owner tend to stall for years instead of getting built in days.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

Kabisa is planning to develop over 30 new fast-charging sites in Rwanda over the next 12 months, with a growing number in Kenya as well. Reliable charging infrastructure is the backbone of Kabisa's EV ecosystem — without it, the vehicles we sell don't work for our customers.

Getting a site operational requires clearing several distinct hurdles: confirming grid-connection feasibility, signing a contract with the site owner, contracting a subcontractor to install the site, and obtaining the permits to operate it. Any one of these can stall a project for months if nobody owns it end to end. This role exists to make sure that doesn't happen.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Identify and evaluate potential charging sites, including landlords or site owners willing to host a charger.

  • Work with the utility to assess grid-connection feasibility and available capacity at each site.

  • Negotiate and sign contracts with site owners.

  • Contract and manage subcontractors responsible for physically installing each site.

  • Obtain the permits required to legally operate each charging site.

  • Track every site through its full development pipeline, keeping projects moving and escalating blockers rather than letting them linger.

  • Document contracts, permits, feasibility assessments, and project status in a structured, repeatable way.

  • Coordinate with utility providers on an ongoing basis as Kabisa's site pipeline grows.

  • As the site-development function grows, help build out and eventually manage a small team of site developers across markets.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A background in electrical engineering, strong enough to assess technical feasibility yourself rather than only coordinating people who can.

  • A genuine self-starter mentality — comfortable pushing a project forward yourself rather than waiting for someone else to unblock it.

  • A history of developing or managing construction projects, or microgrid or solar projects, is a big advantage.

  • Real comfort with process and documentation — this role needs both hustle and discipline; sites without structure tend to drag on for years.

  • Experience dealing directly with utility companies is a strong advantage.

  • Ability to work independently across markets and manage multiple stakeholders at once — site owners, subcontractors, utilities, and permitting bodies.

  • Willingness to travel within Rwanda and Kenya as the site pipeline requires.
