Your Tasks

Objectives
JUWI’s engineering department is growing rapidly because of the high demand for our services. JUWI is searching for electrical/electronic/mechatronics engineering graduates for the position of a Graduate Electrical Engineer. The graduate programme duration is a 1-year fixed-term contract.

As an Electrical Engineering Graduate, you will be granted a developmental opportunity. This includes an opportunity to be mentored, trained and guided in both core engineering principles, generic development and occupation-specific development.

The graduate will be exposed to and provide support to complete engineering activities, system specifications, system design, planning and compliance with the local/international engineering codes for free field solar photovoltaic power plants in the EMEA region. Additionally, the graduate will guide and be mentored to support the sales and project management team in bid document preparation, submission and construction/commissioning support.

Primary Responsibilities
  • To offer support on the instruction of the Lead Engineer and other JUWI technical staff where necessary.
  • To develop your AutoCAD skills to check existing drawings and to create basic drawings where required.
  • To offer support on the system specifications, engineering designs, and procurement of PV plants for South African and EMEA market, using tools such PVSyst and AutoCAD.
  • Create electrical schematics, wire sizing, determine quantities, select components and specify all components to provide the optimal configuration.
  • To offer support on the quality control and expediting management of photovoltaic power plants on instruction from all the technical staff involved in this role.
  • To offer support on the development of new photovoltaic power plants on instruction from all the technical and commercial staff involved in this role.
  • In-service mentoring in the alternative energy industry specific to photovoltaic projects.
  • Support component evaluation, specification, and selection based on cost vs performance benefit.
  • Implementation of system design standards and optimizations proposed by international system design and construction teams from EMEA.
  • Document control by maintaining engineering folder structure and prepare document registers.
  • Participate in the preparation of inspection and test procedures for FAT & SAT, with the guidance of the technical staff involved in this role.

Your Profile

Qualifications and Experience
  • Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering Degree (BEng, BSc, B-Tech or similar)
  • Full Academic Transcripts
  • Driver's License will be advantageous
  • Willingness to travel (national)
  • Position is based in the Cape Town office (5 days a week)
  • Less than two years of post-graduation experience
  • Work exposure in the energy industry will be advantageous
