Objectives
As SCADA Engineer you will be part of the JUWI Engineering team and be responsible for all technical queries related to SCADA systems in all phases of the project life cycle. SCADA includes IT and OT. This includes but is not limited to sales support, system design works but also providing support on site during the construction and commissioning phase.
Primary Responsibilities
IT - Industrial Networking
OT – Operational Technology
As SCADA Engineer you will be part of the JUWI Engineering team and be responsible for all technical queries related to SCADA systems in all phases of the project life cycle. SCADA includes IT and OT. This includes but is not limited to sales support, system design works but also providing support on site during the construction and commissioning phase.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for all SCADA requirements of a PV, BESS and Wind power plant
- Approving datasheets related to the materials and components selected by subcontractors
- Translating the contractual obligations into technical requirements and SCADA design
- Compile specifications, scope of works, bill of materials and evaluate standards for SCADA systems
- Technical advisory and support to Project Development, Sales, Project Management, Project Purchasing & Logistics, Engineering, Construction Management and Commissioning
- Interaction and coordination with Consultants, Suppliers and Subcontractors to ensure compliant project execution
- Ensuring contractual schedule and payment milestones are achieved, including preparation/ compilation of design packages, and tracking thereof
- Support internal and external stakeholders during construction and commissioning. Supervise the suppliers & subcontractors in this process, ensuring the correct integration of all sensors and controls in the SCADA system.
- Complete drafting of technical drawings such as wiring diagrams and SLD
- Support the implementation of the SCADA system and associated equipment from kick-off to handover
- Drafting of Design reports / Technical Descriptions
- Onsite Commissioning support
IT - Industrial Networking
- Hardware: cabling schedules, electrical requirements, specifications for Firewalls, Time Servers, Battery Backup systems, Power Distribution Units, Switches, Routers
- Demonstrated expertise with distributed network systems, VPN and common network interfaces
- Demonstrated expertise with Plant Layouts and Network Architectures
- Demonstrated expertise with Virtual Machines, Servers, Industrial PC’s
- Demonstrated expertise with Utility and Client Interconnections (Such as Eskom for Grid Code Compliance)
- Fiber Optic Networks
- IP Address configurations lists
- Firewall Selection and Configurations
- Cyber Security
- Internet Requirements and specifications
- Server Racks
- Documentation: Drawings, User Manuals, configurations, and configuration files, updates
- Device Configurations
- Secure Remote Access
OT – Operational Technology
- Demonstrated expertise with Plant Layouts
- Demonstrated expertise with integration of CCTV systems
- Cyber Security
- Demonstrated expertise with industrial instrumentation, automation, PLC’s, machine control, HMI, Met Station, Cloud camera, micro grid controller and communication protocols like IEC-101, IEC-104, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101, MODBUS, NTP, SNMP, DNP and OPC, TCP/IP interfaces
- LoRa, Zigbee and similar wireless communication technologies
- Demonstrated expertise with Substation device integration such as IED integrations
- Demonstrated expertise with Resource Forecasting Services
- Security Access Control
- Digital and Analogue signal acquisition
- Demonstrated expertise with PV Plant equipment such as Inverters, DC Combiner Boxes, Substation Equipment, Plant Controllers, meteorological systems, PV Trackers,
- Creation and management of Signal Lists
- Field Equipment Enclosures and integrations
- ICS – Industrial Control Systems
- Protocols and Media converters
- Power Supplies, Surge Protection, and UPS
- Field Device configuration, installation, testing
- Data Historization
Your Profile
Qualifications and Experience
Desirable Attributes
- Accredited degree as Engineer or Technologist with focus on industrial controls or SCADA engineering
- 3-5 years of experience in Automation or Scada and Plant control in a renewable Energy context
- Previous experience in commissioning of SCADA systems for PV / BESS / Wind
- Familiarity with the relevant standards such as IEEE, IEC, SANS and other regulations
- FATS and SATS
- Experience with existing SCADA Systems on the market
