1. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The intern supports the stakeholder communications and membership services functions of the Regional Director’s Office (RDO), towards IUCN’s overall mission of sharing and promoting the use of science-driven knowledge and tools for nature conservation and sustainable use in the Asia region. The intern’s key responsibilities cover:
• Scope - Institutional communications and membership engagement
• Functions: i) communications support through IUCN Asia’s social media accounts, website, newsletter, annual report and other platforms, ii) provision of information and other support services to Members and Union constituents.

2. SPECIFIC DUTIES:
2.1 Outreach Communications
2.1.1 Drafting and editing social media content for Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.
2.1.2 Designing visual materials and their graphics for publications and campaigns using Canva (Adobe Suite is a plus), including an annual report.
2.1.3 Drafting and uploading articles, blogs, and other written materials for newsletters and websites.
2.1.4 Creating visually appealing PowerPoint presentations for internal and external events.
2.1.5 Monitoring social media engagement and compiling analytics reports.

2.2 Membership Services:
2.2.1 Supporting outreach to IUCN Members in Asia, including updating contact lists and preparing engagement materials.
2.2.2 Organising webinars, meetings, and events for Members.
2.2.3 Drafting membership-related communications (emails, invitations, summaries).
2.2.4 Contributing to compiling Member updates and success stories for newsletters and reports.

Guidance and Mentoring:
Throughout the internship, the selected candidate will have an opportunity to learn about:
• IUCN's institutional mission, operations, Asia regional agenda and strategy contributing to IUCN Programme 2026-29;
• Institutional functions of the regional Secretariat;
• Policies and standards for stakeholder engagement, including for Members and Commissions; and,
• Communications strategy, style guide, branding and quality-assurance checks.
In performing the assigned duties, the intern will have the opportunity to interact with key units and teams at the Regional Office, throughout the region and with Headquarters. The intern will gain hands-on experience engaging with various stakeholders and implementing social media and visual communications strategy. The intern will receive constructive feedback on their performance from line managers.
