RESPONSIBILITY

• The Project Assistant reports directly to the Water and Climate Change Programme Manager, while interfacing with other project Assistants, finance, admin, and other staff members of ROWA.
• The Project Assistant is responsible for the preparation of work-plans, and progress reports, ensuring quality, deadlines and timely submission to the donors through the line Manager.
• The project Assistant is responsible for tracking and analysing the financial reports and work plans.
• The Project Assistant is based in Amman and will be required to travel to KSA and other locations.


SPECIFIC TASKS
• Analyse and update the master work plan of the project and the activity-specific workplans.
• Supervise the work of the sub-contractors and consultants through reviewal of deliverables and providing guidance; ensuring deliverables are received on time and align with the stated requirements in the TOR.
• Develop all needed TORs for consultants and service providers.
• Assess the compatibility of the project technical reports with IUCN’s style manual and visual identity and coordinate with IUCN’s publication officer and relevant experts for the successful publication of project deliverables.
• Participate in and coordinate field missions to the project location when needed.
• Design knowledge outputs reflecting the project’s achievements and follow up with IUCN’s publication officer and relevant experts for the successful publication of project deliverables.
• Provides general support, guidance, and serves as focal point between the field and the office during project implementation.
• Ensure that all project activities implemented up to standard and fully meet the Donor requirements.
• Ensure full coordination with the Donor in all project stages according to the project agreement.
• Ensure that all the activities implemented according to the IUCN policies and regulations.
• Day to day Reporting and briefing all issues related to the project’s work to the program manager.
• Conducting background research for the project’s technical reports in thematic areas related to water, climate change, and agriculture.
• Review and track financial reports.
• Support the procurement procedure of goods and services related to the project activities in compliance with IUCN’s procurement policy and donor requirements.
• Prepare, maintain and update a detailed digital archive for the project’s activities, contracts, payments etc.
• Preparing meeting minutes, and keeping track and documentation of meetings, workshops and field visits using an archiving system.
• Coordinate meetings, workshops and provide logistical support for implementing the project’s activities as needed.
• Draft communication briefs covering the project’s activities in coordination with project manager.
• Performing any other duties as requested by the line manager.
REQUIREMENTS

• University degree in water, environment, or another related field. Master’s degree is an advantage.
• 4 – 6 years of experience in sustainable development projects related to water, agriculture, and environment.
• Experience with international organizations, large scale projects and/ or organisations is preferred
• Solid Experience in Hydrology and Geographic information systems (GIS).
• Demonstrated capability to collaborate with diverse groups of stakeholders.
• Strong communication and presentation skills and an ability to prepare appropriate and timely reports to a wide range of audiences and cultures.
• Fluent writing and speaking literacy in English and Arabic


REPORTING

The project assistant will report to water and climate change programme manager.

DURATION OF THE CONTRACT

Eight months contract with potential extension
