RESPONSIBILITY:

- Provide technical assistance, reporting and support the project teams in agriculture, water management, and environmental conservation and related fields of work.
- Assist in project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation activities.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, partners, and beneficiaries to facilitate project activities and ensure alignment with program objectives.
- Contribute to knowledge management, capacity-building, and learning initiatives within the organization.

3. SCOPE OF WORK:
- Support the development and implementation of agriculture, water management, and environmental projects, including conducting research, preparing technical reports, and analysing data.
- Assist in the coordination of project activities, including organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions, and preparing relevant documentation and materials.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Provide technical inputs and recommendations on project design, methodologies, and approaches based on best practices and evidence-based research.
- Liaise with government agencies, NGOs, academic institutions, and other stakeholders to foster partnerships and facilitate knowledge exchange.
- Support monitoring and evaluation efforts, including data collection, analysis, and reporting, to assess project progress and impact.
- Contribute to the development of knowledge products, communication materials, and outreach campaigns to raise awareness about agriculture, water management, and environmental issues.
- Assist in administrative tasks related to project management, including budget tracking, procurement, and logistics coordination.
- Supervising, coordinating, and following up on all the agricultural activities (design, implementation, handover, and commissioning) in the field with full collaboration with project staff and under full guidance of the project manager.
- Prepare fieldwork plans for designing and implementing the agricultural activities considering the highest safety and performance standards.
- Conduct field surveys to evaluate irrigation efficiency, cropping patterns and crop health.
- Conduct field surveys for the selection of water harvesting structures.
- Contribute to training programs in Climate Smart Agriculture, Hydroponic, protected agriculture, and cash crops.
- Supervise installation of greenhouses equipped with modern irrigation techniques.
- Ensure needed equipment and materials are on hand to complete work on time and according to Program manager expectations.
- By interfacing with farmers, and the agricultural cooperatives Project Technical Assistant ensures the smooth operation of field activities, including field safety and work quality.
- Reviewing the design drawing, specifications, and BOQ for all project interventions.
- Ensuring the implementation of agriculture interventions is up to standards in compliance with the design, drawings, specifications, work plans, and Donor and IUCN regulations.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly field progress reports in compliance with the work plan and timeline.
- Conducting regular technical inspections and providing technical support for the project beneficiaries as well as following up with the project beneficiaries on the operation and commissioning of the implemented projects and activities.
- Ensure taking all safety measures on the working site to secure the beneficiaries and infrastructure.
- Day-to-day follow-up on the field operations in collaboration with the project staff and in full guidance with the project manager.
- Assisting and supporting in building the capacity of beneficiaries through training sessions, on-job training, labour rights, a code of conduct, and financial literacy, as well as technical training support as required in full collaboration with the project staff.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with the project’s beneficiaries and address social cohesion between the Syrian and Jordanian.
- Coordination with other project staff is essential for the project's success.
- Provide technical support where requested.
- Performing any other duties as requested by the line manager.

The Technical Assistant will report to the water and climate change program manager and collaborate closely with other members of the project team.

4. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, environmental science, water resources management, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in project management, technical assistance, in the agriculture, water, and environment sectors.
- Strong technical expertise in agriculture, water management, soil conservation, climate change adaptation, and/or environmental sustainability.
- Field experience in on-farm water auditing, farmers practices survey and calculation of irrigation efficiency.
- Field experience in water harvesting projects with the ability to select sites for water harvesting and create designs of water harvesting structures.
- Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, donors, and other stakeholders in the agriculture and water sectors.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis software, GIS tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English speaking and writing.
