Job Summary:

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks three qualified candidates to serve as Interns in its Development Strategies and Governance Unit. The Internship duration is for three months, renewable for another 3 months based on the intern's performance. The position is based in Abuja, Nigeria under the Nigeria Support Strategy Program (NSSP). The successful candidates will provide research support within an international research and development organization. The interns will conduct literature reviews on food security, nutrition, and agriculture; support survey design, data collection, and fieldwork; and clean and manage datasets. This role offers hands-on experience in research, policy analysis, and professional development. Candidates should have training in economics, agricultural economics, statistics, or related fields, with knowledge of quantitative or qualitative methods and statistical software such as R or Stata. Interested applicants must have work authorization to work in Nigeria.

Professional Growth and Development Opportunities

Under the Nigeria Support Strategy Program (NSSP), the intern will join the Development Strategies and Governance (DSG) Unit team to provide research support.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature reviews on food security, nutrition, agriculture, and other related topics, as assigned

  • Assist with survey design, data collection, and fieldwork activities

  • Clean, organize, and manage datasets

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Statistics, or a related field or graduated within the last 6 months with a Master’s degree in related field.

  • Basic knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods

  • Working knowledge of at least one statistical software package (preferably R or Stata) or geospatial analysis tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s thesis involving quantitative data analysis

  • Demonstrated interest in agricultural development, food security, or policy research

  • Familiarity with household survey data or agricultural datasets

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
