This role requires a dynamic leader with a proven track record in managing large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly in the hydropower sector. The Construction Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient execution of all phases of construction, from planning to completion, across multiple project sites.
This includes reviewing and implementing civil works technical designs, turbine installations,water resource management, and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will have astrong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding ofmanaging complex projects and different project stakeholders including external contractors while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and sustainability.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Project Management
• Lead the planning, execution, and completion of hydropower construction projects.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Ensure all construction activities are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
Technical Oversight
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and consultants to review technical designs and resolve construction challenges.
• Oversee the successful installation of equipment including turbines, generators, etc.
• Monitor construction quality and ensure adherence to technical specifications and industry standards.
Safety and Compliance
• Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Ensure compliance with local and national construction and environmental laws.
Stakeholder Coordination
• Act as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders and internal teams.
• Ensure that external contractors adhere strictly to contract terms including technical specifications as well as health and safety requirements.
• Prepare and present progress reports, including updates on milestones, budget status, and risks.
• Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
Risk Management
• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Monitor and address any deviations from project plans promptly.
• Resolve on-site issues efficiently to avoid project delays.
Team Leadership
• Manage and coordinate contractors and in-house on-site construction teams and contractors.
• Foster a collaborative work environment that emphasizes safety, quality, and productivity.
• Conduct regular progress meetings and provide clear communication to all stakeholders.

2.Technical Expertise in Managing Multiple Hydropower Projects
• In-depth knowledge of overseeing construction projects, including managing complex designs, coordinating installation of equipment, and ensuring environmental considerations are integrated across multiple project sites simultaneously.
3.Regulatory and Environmental Compliance
• Understanding of environmental regulations, conducting environmental impact assessments, and managing permitting and licensing processes to ensure compliance.
4.Leadership and Team Management
• Ability to lead and manage diverse teams, including contractors, engineers, and subcontractors, while maintaining effective communication and motivating the team.
5.Health, Safety, and Environmental Stewardship (HSE)
• Expertise in managing safety protocols, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards, and minimizing the environmental impact of construction activities.
6.Problem-Solving and Crisis Management
• Strong problem-solving abilities to quickly address and resolve issues that may arise on construction sites. • Experience with crisis management in large-scale projects, including mitigating risks and managing delays or emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Educational Background
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Master’s degree in construction management, project management, or related disciplines (preferred but not required).
2.Professional Experience
• Minimum 8 years of experience in construction management, with at least 3 years specifically overseeing large-scale infrastructure or hydropower projects.
• Proven track record of successfully managing multiple, simultaneous projects in complex, remote, or challenging environments.
• Experience in hydropower construction (dams, turbines, electrical systems).
• Hands-on experience with environmental compliance and permitting processes for large-scale construction projects.
3.Certifications
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent project management certification.
• Health and Safety Certification for managing site safety.
4.Technical Skills
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, or similar tools).
• Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) for project coordination and problem-solving.
• Strong understanding of hydropower systems and their components, including dams, turbines, water resource management, and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of remote sensing and drone technology for site monitoring.
5.Regulatory and Environmental Knowledge
• Strong understanding of local and international environmental laws, regulations, and permitting processes related to hydropower and construction.
• Experience conducting or overseeing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
