Job Overview:

A foreman effectively oversees construction projects, maintains high standards of quality and safety, and ensures timely completion within budget.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Site Supervision

• Oversee and coordinate daily construction activities on the hydropower project site.

• Ensure work is performed according to project plans, specifications, and schedules.

• Monitor progress and quality of work performed by labourers, subcontractors, and other site personnel.

  1. Workforce Management

• Assign tasks and responsibilities to workers and subcontractors.

• Supervise and train workers, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities.

• Monitor attendance, productivity, and performance of the workforce.

• Supervise and train workers and tradespeople to ensure proficiency and safety.

  1. Safety and Compliance

• Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits on-site.

• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies.

  1. Resource Management

• Manage materials, equipment, and tools required for the project.

• Ensure efficient use of resources to avoid wastage and delays.

• Coordinate with the procurement team to maintain adequate inventory levels.

• Supervise the use of machinery and equipment to ensure proper operation.

  1. Quality Control

• Blueprint Interpretation. Read and interpret drawings, plans, and blueprints.

• Inspect work for quality and adherence to project specifications and standards.

• Address any issues or defects promptly and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

• Maintain detailed records of quality checks and inspections.

  1. Communication and Reporting

• Maintain open and effective communication with the Site Manager, Project Manager, and other stakeholders.

• Prepare and submit daily/weekly progress reports, including work completed, issues encountered, and any deviations from the plan.

• Facilitate regular site meetings to discuss progress, issues, and plans.

  1. Problem-Solving

• Identify and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise on-site, including technical problems, labour disputes, and safety concerns.

• Implement solutions to mitigate delays and ensure project timelines are met.

• Assist the manager with tackling technical challenges that arise.

  1. Documentation and Record-Keeping

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date site records, including weekly reports construction, site incident reports, work logs, safety reports, and material receipts.

• Ensure all documentation are organized and accessible for audits and reviews.

• Measure, check and record the quality of delivered construction materials.

  1. Coordination with Other Teams

• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other technical staff to ensure project requirements are met.

• Coordinate with logistics and support teams to facilitate smooth operations on-site.
