Responsibilities:
- Design track and railway infrastructure in accordance with applicable regulations, laws and standards;
- Participate in the planning stages, design and construction of a project;
- Work collaboratively with project managers and multi-disciplinary design teams;
- Participate in the development of concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility study and detailed design projects from a track and perway perspective
- Assign and review the technical design work of junior engineers;
- Prepare reports on the execution of work and adherence to the schedule;
- Prepare technical specifications and bidding documents and assist in the compilation and analysis of bids;
- Inspection and condition assessments of rail track and perway infrastructure and determining remaining useful life of the various components
- Participate in due diligence exercises focused on track and perway assets and generation of reports with findings
- Develop new or review of client’s track and perway maintenance strategies and interventions focused on sustainability of track and perway
- Develop BOQ’s and capex cost estimates that supports rail alignment designs for either greenfield or brownfield developments
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations in health and safety on construction sites;
- Perform detailed technical analysis, interpret data, make summaries and draft reports;
- Visit construction sites to ensure the quality of the work and to carry out inspections.
Qualifications:
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering;
- Must have between 8 - 15 years of professional experience in design or construction or track maintenance of railway infrastructure and;
- Solid experience utilizing Civil 3D and Bentley Open Rail;
- Experience in project management of public or private infrastructure projects;
- Technical experience in the planning and design of transit and freight railway infrastructure;
- Site experience working on railway projects;
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal are essential;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Ability to work to meet cost targets, quality targets and deadlines;
- Time management skills and ability to adapt to change;
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
