Supplier Development (SD) Manager, Community Engagement and Social Performance (CESP)

In a practice that’s growing, you will be part of Hatch’s Community Engagement and Social Performance Practice (CESP) that collaborates with clients, communities, stakeholders, and Hatch’s engineering teams to create mutually beneficial and sustainable metals, energy, and infrastructure projects. Hatch is currently seeking an SD Manager that will be an integral part of a growing practice. As the SD Manager, you will deliver the following:  

Summary

The SD Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the Supplier Development Management Plans (SDMP) and thereby ensuring the project will meet or exceed the project supplier development requirements on behalf of our clients.  The SD Manager oversees the Supplier Development Coordinator where applicable.  The SD Manager is expected to be familiar with the Hatch, clients, and national Broad-Based Black Economic Development (B-BBEE) and Supplier Development Code of Conduct and Guidelines.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Agrees, as part of the project leadership team, the overall execution strategy as set out in the Project Execution Plan (PEP) as it pertains to SD
  • Is responsible for the development of the SDMP that considers the requirements of all the key stakeholders. The developed plan (on its proper implementation) must ensure that Hatch will deliver on its contractual SD obligations
  • Compile and implement the supplier development strategies aligned to the broader national policy and regulatory framework   
  • Liaise with project management, procurement managers and project controls services on the expected SD outcomes 
  • Implement, monitor and evaluate the SD initiatives as committed to in the SDMP 
  • Manage key stakeholder relations with communities across the project to ensure that there is consistent implementation, monitoring and reporting of SD initiatives
  • Assist in training initiatives for SD, B-BBEE policies and procedures to drive compliance
  • Conduct market research and data analysis of strategic commodities and identify opportunities for local supplier development
  • Embedding SD and B-BBEE strategies within Hatch where there is a dependency to deliver on an initiative in order to ensure that the Project’s SD targets are met
  • Track SD strategy and policy implementation
  • Compile the monthly Supplier Development progress reports for the project

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • General understanding of the B-BBEE and Supplier Development programmes
  • General understanding of the Mining Charter III
  • Degree in social science, sustainability, communications, or a related field   
  • Five plus years’ experience in community and stakeholder engagement, enterprise/supplier development or social performance
  • Effective, open communication and presentation style with the ability to plan and deliver best in class, high quality deliverables 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills 
  • Creative and approachable with a willingness to recommend innovative solutions to clients  
  • Experience working on major projects
  • Willingness for both domestic and international travel as work requires
  • A willingness to proactively meet clients’ needs whether big or small
