We are looking to hire a versatile Senior Communications Officer to join our growing Communications team (reporting to the Head of Communications), who will be responsible for supporting project-based integrated communications content planning and cultivating media relations to enhance the work that GreenCape does with our funders and stakeholders. The Senior Communications Officer will work within project teams and the communications team to coordinate and actively participate in the development and execution of integrated communication planning for high profile key projects, with a focus on events, publications, content campaigns and media engagement.

Core tasks and responsibilities

  • Project communication strategy development
  • Project deliverables communication coordination
  • Campaign creation and content oversight
  • Media relations management
  • Supervision and mentorship
  • Monitoring and reporting
  • Stakeholder collaboration & engagement

The following will be an advantage

  • A keen interest in the green economy, demonstrated through volunteering involvement or job experience
  • Include a portfolio of written content you have published on external platforms (e.g., news releases, feature articles, blog posts, etc.)
  • Examples of digital marketing campaigns implemented
  • Links to social media accounts that the candidate was responsible to community manage. These can also be personal social media accounts.

Contract length and remuneration

  • This is a full-time permanent position
  • There will be a six-month probation period for this position
  • We offer market-related remuneration
  • Medical aid is provided as an employee benefit, subject to certain conditions
