Globeleq is 70% owned by British International Investment and 30% by Norfund, the development finance institutions of the UK and Norway, and has a proven track record for supporting the ongoing development of the African power sector.

Globeleq’s various generation technologies include gas, wind, solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), hydro and geothermal.

Globeleq continues to expand its footprint across Africa, with increasing complexity in tax and regulatory environments. The Tax Graduate will provide dedicated support to the Group Head of Tax and the wider finance team, contributing to Group tax governance, compliance, and strategic initiatives. This role is designed to build foundational expertise in tax while offering structured mentorship, professional development, and exposure to diverse finance projects. Over time, the graduate will develop into a skilled tax professional, strengthening the Group’s internal capacity and reducing reliance on external advisers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compile and maintain group tax documentation and tax risk registers.
  • Conduct in-depth tax research and analyse commercial scenarios to apply relevant legislation.
  • Support day-to-day tax operations, including engagement with tax authorities and assisting local teams with audits and queries.
  • Collaborate with Financial Control, Treasury, and local finance teams to ensure audit and reporting deadlines are met.
  • Contribute to tax governance initiatives and compliance processes across jurisdictions.
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations for senior stakeholders, including investor-related events.
  • Participate in cross-functional finance projects to strengthen business partnering and organisational resilience.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the tax function.

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Recently completed a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Bachelor’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Interest in tax, compliance, and broader finance practices.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and regulatory frameworks.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Prior internship or project experience in tax or finance is desirable but not required.
