Globeleq’s various generation technologies include gas, wind, solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), and geothermal. The company is also actively pursuing new opportunities which are emerging from the energy transition, including desalination projects powered by renewables, as well as green hydrogen and ammonia projects.

In this role, the Senior Accounts Payable Administrator is to support the finance team in ensuring accuracy and compliance with company guidelines with regards to accounting and reporting policies and procedures relating to Accounts Payable, Cash Books and the opportunity to manage Bookkeeping and Accounts Receivable tasks. The role is responsible for the day to management of the Accounts Payable, Cash Book functions tasks includes the supervision and management of the Accounts Administrators.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable
  • Accounts payable super user including managing and supporting the vendor process on the ERP system
  • Matching of invoices to purchase orders
  • Maintaining a list of open purchase orders and following up regularly on them to close them out
  • Ensuring that supplier balances are reconciled, maintaining an accurate age analysis and report findings
  • Uploading travel invoices onto the ERP system
Cash Book and Banking
  • Ensure that all transactions are processed on the bank accounts e.g. payment runs, bank charges and interest
  • Prepare bank reconciliation for all bank accounts
  • Complete the necessary application forms or notifications to the bank for any changes to bank accounts including opening and closing of accounts or changes to users
  • Loading of payments onto the banking systems for release
  • Completing the necessary foreign payment application forms (BOP Forms)
  • Processing cash claims
  • Loading of beneficiaries onto bank accounts
Credit Card Claims
  • Oversee the receipt and delivery of credit card statements and uploading of transactions in the ERP system
  • Processing and ensuring that credit card transactions are accurately and timeously recorded in the accounts once approved by the line manager
  • Follow up, and where necessary, investigate outstanding claims
  • Maintain an up to date list of outstanding claims (credit card recons)
  • Ensure policy is adhered to and provide training to new joiners
  • Complete the necessary application forms or notifications to the bank for any changes including additional cards, cancellation of cards or amendments to credit limits
General accounting and administrative requirements in the department
  • Administration of fuel cards and vehicle management
  • Ensure that the vendor list is up to date including up to date banking details and BBBEE certificates
  • Providing supporting documentation for audits. (i.e. IPPO, BBBEE, Statutory Audits)
  • Providing support completing trial balances for smaller companies, assisting with accounts receivable process and compilation of vat returns.
  • Any other ad hoc finance responsibilities in support of the Globeleq finance group, as appropriate

Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications

  • National Diploma / BTech / B Comm or similar qualification with Accounting or Finance as a major, or NQF equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 4 years relevant working experience, with minimum 2 years’ experience supervising a team in an accounts administrative environment
  • An environment with foreign currency payments
  • Experience in online banking is required
  • Relevant working experience with an accounting package (e.g. SAP, AccPac, IFS, etc.) is required
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of BBBEE reporting (advantageous)
  • Experience in accounting is an advantage
  • Experience in a shared services environment is an advantage
  • Experience in a multi-company or multi-entity is an advantage
