Environmental and Social Officer

Form Ghana Limited is seeking a dedicated and proactive Environmental and Social (E&S) Officer to support our environmental compliance and community engagement activities. The successful candidate will assist in advancing our environmental and social initiatives, contributing positively to our organisational culture and objectives.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Minimum BSc degree in a relevant environment and social studies related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of working experience in a related field.
  • Must have a National Service Certificate.
  • Must have a valid ID card.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  1. Knowledge and understanding of Ghana's environmental laws and regulatory compliance.
  2. Strong interpersonal communication, negotiation and leadership skills.
  3. Computer literate in Windows and Microsoft software, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  4. Highly motivated and results-driven.
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Ability to facilitate, manage and report on relationships with the company's key stakeholders in communities and Government departments.
  7. Proficient in environmental sampling, data analysis, and making actionable recommendations.
  8. Ability to independently manage, prioritise and deliver work on projects for various stakeholders on time.
  9. Skilled in managing and monitoring community concerns and resolving conflicts.
  10. Ability to design and present educational programmes to diverse audiences, including schools and community groups.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure environmental and social compliance with certification standards and regulatory bodies, including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Water Resource Commission (WRC) and the Forestry Commission.
  2. Perform and report on regular environmental monitoring (g. soil, water, effluent discharge) to meet permit requirements.
  3. Plan and arrange stakeholder and community meetings to promote collaboration and address concerns, ensuring positive community relations and conflict resolution.
  4. Work closely with the Intercropping and Field Extension Supervisors to monitor and support intercropping initiatives, ensuring environmental policies are followed.
  5. Liaise with internal departments, coordinate environmental and social reporting and address project needs and stakeholder concerns.
  6. Monitor, report, and maintain relationships with community organisations, including the Form Ghana Ladies Club.
  7. Conduct research and recommend community development initiatives.
  8. Develop and implement environmental education programmes for schools, community groups, and other stakeholders.
  9. Plan and coordinate environmental activities, including developing annual social plans and alignment with environmental protocols.
  10. Assist in preparing and organising company stakeholder meetings and events.
