JOB SUMMARY
The Commercial Manager implements and achieves the objectives and targets of the company’s commercial operations to ensure the effective marketing and sales of the company’s products and services.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Teak marketing and sales
- Conduct up-to-date market research
- Identify, liaise with and negotiate with potential buyers in Ghana
- Field visits with potential buyers
- Communicate weekly with buyers and provide them with daily production updates
- Manage and control the safe removal of sold logs from the plantation and prevent damage to company roads and property
Financial and risk management
- Produce and manage the annual commercial sales forecasting, planning and budgets.
- Manage client contracting and invoicing processes
- Develop and implement viable commercial strategies
- Develop and submit monthly harvesting and sales reports
- Identify and manage commercial risks, eg fire, damage to infrastructure
Compliance and reporting
- Manage the forest stewardship chain of custody
- Communicate regularly with the Forestry Commission and facilitate client liaison
- Manage felling permit applications and processes
- Write and submit bi-weekly and quarterly reports to the Forestry Commission
- Manage the renewal of Form Ghana’s property marks
- Regularly communicate with and provide feedback to the Forestry Operations Manager
Carbon Sales
- Support the carbon audit process
- Support the carbon marketing and sales processes
Additional
- Support the overall work of Form Ghana’s teams to ensure the effective delivery of our vision and culture ambition, and to meet our health, safety and environmental priorities.
- Stand in for the Forest Operations Manager when required by the CEO
ELIGIBILITY
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, preferably Business Administration
- At least five (5) years of relevant work experience
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Physically and mentally fit for the job
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
- Must have valid NHIS or related health insurance and national identity cards, and a national SSNIT number
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Strong financial and data management skills.
- Ability to work independently, solve problems and meet deadlines.
- Strong organisational, self-discipline, and administrative skills.
- An understanding of harvesting operations and forestry regulations would be an advantage
- Excellent interpersonal communication, sales and negotiation skills
- Ability to handle challenges and situations
- Experience in mentoring and supporting team growth
