Context:

Within ENGIE South Africa, the S&EM business is in full development. The South African branch of S&EM aims to meet the energy needs of private offtakers across Southern Africa, by providing them with energy and also supporting them in their optimization actions and transition towards a decarbonized production. As the Senior Commercial and Trading Lead, you play a key role in developing the commercial and trading strategies.

Alongside the Managing Director of S&EM your first mission consists in setting up the framework and the commercial outreach to convert the Renewable upstream pipeline of ENGIE into commercial offers. Secondly, you will lead the preparation of S&EM to take part in the upcoming SAWEM launch and to participate in the Southern African Power Pool.

Role:

  • Develop the overall commercial strategy for S&EM in South Africa to reach the decarbonization targets of the customer in strong collaboration with the business development teams
  • You’ll be the account manager of our key accounts, by leading the customer engagement, lead the contract negotiations up to closure.
  • Develop the trading strategies for ENGIE in the SAWEM and SAPP markets, engage with regulators and shareholders.
  • Contribute to the setup of the processes, models and proper framework for the pricing and risk management of the commercial offers.
  • Interact with your peers to translate the commercial strategy into medium term planning and guarantee a cross functional implementation.

Skills:

  • You have a degree in business, finance, economics or a related field.
  • At least 5 years' experience in commercial roles, preferably in energy trading or renewable energy.
  • Strong background in finance, trading, and customer-focused industries.
  • Experience in structuring complex financial transactions and external stakeholder management.
  • Skills in financial modelling, energy trading, and project finance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Languages:

Fluency in English, (French or South African languages is a plus)

Travels:

Location : Bryanston - Johannesburg office (with punctual travel to Capetown)
