Job Purpose/Mission
We are looking for a full-stack software engineer to join our digital team and help us to deliver affordable solar power to emerging markets. If you are confident in the Rails world and if you want to create real, positive impact with your work, please reach out to us.

Our small, self-organized, distributed team (Kampala / Berlin / Nairobi) develops the backbone of our operations, which we also provide to other businesses in the PAYGo sector as Software as a Service – see https://paygee.com.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the product managers and software engineers and contribute to the development of effective quality assurance strategies and test plans for the software platforms.
- Provide second level support
- Maintain a deep understanding of user requirements and business logic as core foundation to author high quality automated and manual test plans
- Support software automation for Quality Assurance including test planning/automation, bug reporting
- Execute test cases (manual or automated) and analyze results.
- Document and report technical issues to the team
- Test tickets on agile board and make sure they meet the acceptance criteria
Knowledge and skills
Experience:
- Diploma in Computer Science or relevant field
- Ability to document and troubleshoot errors
- Ability to attend to detail and have robust analytical skill-set, endless curiosity and a desire to think outside the box
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A track record as an exceptional team player
- Comfortable querying SQL databases and navigating web application codebases to give exploratory testing focus.
- Understanding of automation frameworks like selenium, Familiarity with Agile frameworks and regression testing is a plus
Good to have experience
- Knowledge of testing frameworks and tools in modern web and mobile application (Selenium, Appium, Postman, Locust, Jmeter)
- Knowledge of observability tools such as Sentry, Graphana
- Ability to code in ruby or python
Qualifications:
- Bachelors in a relevant engineering discipline (Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science are preferred)
