Job Title: Solar Sales Lead (Agri-foods focus)

Team: Growth

Reporting to: Channel Manager (Sector Penetration)

Grade Level: Lead

SunFi.co is leveraging its leadership experience as a Distributed Energy Provider (DEP) to build a Clean Energy FinTech platform that helps consumers access the most trusted solar and clean energy solutions that deliver the greatest savings. SunFi collaborates with the best equipment suppliers, installers, and financiers to deliver clean energy consumers amazing solar experiences to help catalyze the transition to clean energy across Nigeria, and eventually, across Africa .

About the Role

The Agrifood Solar Sales Lead will drive SunFi’s entry and growth in the agrifood market with a strong focus on women-led cold-chain and fresh-produce businesses that rely on power to preserve and sell food daily. This role will lead field activation, agent recruitment and coaching, market penetration, and ongoing optimization of the grant-backed program supporting young female traders with solar systems and cooling solutions. Although delivering the grant is a major component of the first year, this role will continue to expand and support SunFi’s long-term sector growth strategy well beyond the grant period.

This is a field-heavy, entrepreneurial role for someone who can drive field sales, build systems, motivate people, and deliver commercial results in complex markets.

Job Responsibilities

Sector Penetration and Market Expansion

Achieve revenue and profitability targets with Month-on-Month Growth, by leading SunFi’s growth across Lagos agrifood markets and identifying high-potential communities, cold-chain traders, and productive-use clusters.

Map wards, markets, and trading communities to build and execute penetration plans.

Design sales approaches that reflect the rhythms, cashflows, and operational realities of women in cold-chain and fresh-produce businesses.

Test and refine sector-specific sales motions and turn field insights into repeatable playbooks for scale.

Field Sales Operations & Agent Management

Recruit, train, and supervise agricultural-solar agents who will sell solar systems and cooling solutions to women traders in their communities.

Build agent discipline around lead generation, customer education, conversion, route planning, and post-sale support.

Track daily and weekly performance using clear KPIs and ensure strong repayment behaviour among customers.

Coach agents to grow their customer base and improve productivity, ensuring they meet income, performance, and coverage expectations.

Grant-Backed Program Delivery

Lead execution of the grant-backed program focused on young women in agrifood systems who rely on cooling and solar to run their businesses.

Manage the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing coaching of agents to ensure women under 35 remain the primary beneficiaries.

Ensure activities align with approved targets, budgets, and timelines.

Maintain complete documentation of trainings, onboarding, equipment deployment, market activations, and beneficiary interactions.

Work closely with Finance and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) teams to ensure that field data, spend, and evidence are complete, accurate, and audit-ready.

Provide timely inputs for monthly, quarterly, and annual narrative and financial reports.

Uphold safeguarding, data protection, and community safety standards in all field activities.

Share field insights that strengthen SunFi’s overall sector penetration strategy beyond the grant.

Revenue, Reporting, and Cross-Functional Collaboration

Achieve revenue, volume, and repayment targets for assigned segments.

Ensure CRM accuracy and weekly reporting discipline for all agents and markets.

Collaborate closely with Operations, Logistics, Finance, Marketing, Data, and Customer Success to ensure smooth end-to-end delivery.

Provide leadership with field insights that guide product improvements, pricing refinements, and expansion decisions.

Leadership and People Development:

Build a culture of discipline, learning, and accountability among your team of agents.

Support talent development through structured coaching, field shadowing, and consistent feedback.

Promote SunFi’s values and collaborative culture in all external and internal engagements.

Help shape the development of market-facing playbooks, sales tools, and performance systems.

Support SunFi’s broader apprenticeship and leadership pipeline by developing high-performing agents who can grow into senior roles.Support efforts to collaborate with the company’s leadership to train SunFi talent and adopt an apprenticeship model.

Attributes & Skills

Sales and Market Execution

Strong field sales experience in FMCG, agrifood distribution, or last-mile environments

Competence in customer engagement, negotiations, pitching, and closing

Strong territory planning and field research skills

People and Relationship Management

Proven experience managing agents or field teams

Ability to build trust with traders, market associations, community leaders, unions, and cooperatives

Strong communication skills with empathy for diverse customer realities

Operational and Analytical Skills

Strong reporting discipline and comfort with CRM tools, mobile apps, and digital tools for agent management and reporting.

Ability to work across teams and manage multiple moving parts

Good time management and strong attention to detail

Strong proficiency with Excel/Sheets for tracking performance and generating insights.

Able to present clear, concise weekly and monthly reports to leadership.

Cross-functional Collaboration

Able to work smoothly with Marketing, Operations, Finance, Product, and Data teams to ensure cross-functional alignment.

Skilled at communicating field intelligence upward and externally, while helping shape company strategy with real customer insights.

Experience collaborating with technical or customer support teams to ensure seamless after-sales service.

Soft Skills

Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to motivate diverse teams.

Excellent communication in English and at least one Nigerian local language.

High resilience, problem-solving ability, and a calm approach to operational pressure.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or HND in Business, Marketing, Agriculture, or related field

Minimum of 5 years in field sales or business development

At least 3 years managing a team of at least 3 people

Experience working in fast-paced or startup environments

Fluency in English and at least one relevant local language is an advantage
