Delta40: AI Expert-In-Residence (AI-XIR)

Delta40 Studio

Delta40 Studio

Software Engineering, Data Science
Posted on May 14, 2025

Location: Kenya or Nigeria preferred (or remote with initial 3-month regional stay)

Commitment: 3–5 days/week for 6–12 months

About The Role

The AI Expert-in-Residence (AI-XIR) will play a central role in embedding hands-on AI innovation across Delta40’s studio, internal operations, and portfolio companies. Far beyond an advisory role, the AI-XIR will roll up their sleeves to prototype, pilot, and deploy AI solutions, working directly with founders, product teams, and studio staff to bring ideas to life. They will accelerate Delta40’s ability to leverage AI for real-world impact, especially in low-resource environments across Africa.

This role sits within Delta40’s broader Expert-in-Residence (XIR) Program, which brings experienced practitioners into our ecosystem to contribute through venture building, coaching, and strategic studio initiatives. AI-XIRs typically commit 3 to 5 days per week for 6 to 12 months, with flexibility around schedule. In addition to office hours and workshops, the AI-XIR will lead targeted AI development sprints and co-build MVPs with startups and studio teams.

This is an ideal opportunity for a technologist or builder with deep AI capabilities, particularly someone who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and is excited to create tangible solutions in sectors like climate, agriculture, mobility, and fintech. Preference will be given to candidates based in Kenya or Nigeria, or those able to spend the first 3 months immersed in-region.
